[Développer la résilience : Exercice APOLLON RESILIENT // Developping resilience: Exercice APOLLON RESILIENT]

Du 3 au 7 juin 2026, l’escadron A a mobilisé 54 membres dans le cadre d’un exercice de résilience, l’exercice APOLLON RESILIENT. L’activité consistait en une marche avec charge à travers le terrain exigeant de la Traversée de Charlevoix, un itinéraire de randonnée reconnu pour ses importants dénivelés, ses sentiers techniques et ses paysages remarquables.

Les membres ont progressé en trois groupes, organisés selon la structure des troupes de l’escadron. À la fin de chaque étape, les membres se réunissaient à des refuges situés le long du parcours afin d’établir des bivouacs austères. Répartie sur cinq jours, la marche a totalisé 105 km, soit une moyenne d’environ 21 km par jour, avec un dénivelé positif cumulé de plus de
3,300 m.

L’exercice, axé sur la résilience et le travail d’équipe, a contribué à la préparation physique de l’escadron A, qui est le prochain escadron du 12 RBC à partir en déploiement pour la ROTO 27-01 de l’OP REASSURANCE.

From 3 to 7 June 2026, A Squadron mobilized 54 members as part of a resiliency exercise, Exercise APOLLON RESILIENT. The activity consisted of a loaded march across the harsh terrain of the Traversée de Charlevoix, a hiking route renowned for its significant elevation gain, technical trails, and remarkable landscapes.

Members advanced in three groups, organized according to the squadron’s troop structure. At the end of each stage, participants assembled at shelters located along the route to establish austere bivouacs. Conducted over five days, the march covered a total distance of 105 km, averaging approximately 21 km per day, with a cumulative elevation gain of over 3,300 metres.

The exercise, focused on resilience and teamwork, contributed to the physical readiness of A Squadron, which is the next squadron of the 12 RBC scheduled to deploy for ROTO 27-01 of OP REASSURANCE.

[Instruction individuelle : La première étape de la montée en puissance // Individual training : The first step of force generation]

Au cours des mois de mai et de juin, les membres de l’escadron A ont suivi une série de cours d’instruction individuelle sur 3 véhicules, soit le VBL 6.0, le Bison, et le VBTP. L’entraînement, qui a consisté en des cours de conducteur et de tireur, s’est déroulé dans les secteurs d’entraînement de la BS 2 Div CA Valcartier ainsi que sur les routes provinciales.

Les cours de conducteur ont porté sur le contrôle des véhicules en terrain complexe, les militaires s’entrainant de jour comme de nuit dans les secteurs d’entraînement. Les cours de tireur, comprenant les qualifications au canon de 25 mm et le poste de tir télécommandé du VBTP, ont permis de perfectionner les compétences des militaires dans l’utilisation, l’entretien et l’emploi du canon de 25 mm du VBL 6.0, ainsi que du lance-gr***des C16 du VBTP et des mitrailleuses C6 associées à ces plateformes.

Dans l’ensemble, ces cours d’instruction individuelle ont permis de générer des soldats blindés qualifiés qui contribueront à renforcer l’état de préparation de l’escadron A en vue de son déploiement à l’OP REASSURANCE en décembre 2026, où il assumera de nouveau le rôle d’escadron de cavalerie de la Brigade multinationale en Lettonie.

Throughout May and June, members of A Squadron completed a series of individual training courses on three vehicles: the LAV 6.0, the Bison, and the TAPV. The training, which consisted of driver and gunner courses, was conducted in the training areas of 2 Cdn Div Sp Base Valcartier, as well as on provincial roads.

The driver courses focused on vehicle control in complex terrain, with personnel training both by day and by night in the training areas. The gunner courses, which included qualifications on the 25 mm cannon and the Remote Weapon Station of the TAPV, enabled personnel to refine their skills in the operation, maintenance, and employment of the LAV 6.0’s 25 mm cannon, as well as the TAPV’s C16 gr***de launcher and the C6 machine guns associated with these platforms.

Overall, these individual training courses resulted in the generation of qualified armoured soldiers who will help enhance A Squadron’s readiness in preparation for its deployment on OP REASSURANCE in December 2026, where it will once again assume the role of cavalry squadron within the Multinational brigade – Latvia.

Le mercredi 27 mai 2026, le 12e Régiment blindé du Canada a tenu une séance de promotions à la salle LaRose du Régiment. Durant cette occasion, le Commandant du Régiment, le Lieutenant-colonel D.G. Cameron, et le Sergent-major régimentaire, l’Adjudant-chef M.N. Murphy, ont remis des promotions à des membres de l’escadron B qui s’apprêtent à partir à l’Opération REASSURANCE.

On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, the 12e Régiment blindé du Canada held a promotion ceremony at the Regiment’s salle LaRose. On this occasion, the Regiment’s Commanding Officer, Lieutenant-Colonel D.G. Cameron, and the Regimental Sergeant Major, Chief Warrant Officer M.N. Murphy, presented promotions to members of B Squadron who are preparing to deploy on Operation REASSURANCE.

Le vendredi 1 mai 2026, le 12e Régiment blindé du Canada a conduit une parade à la BS 2 Div CA Valcartier soulignant le changement du Sergent-major régimentaire (SMR) entre le SMR sortant, l’Adjudant-chef E.J.C. Breton, MMM, CD, et le SMR rentrant, l’Adjudant-chef M.N. Murphy, MMM, CD. Nous avons eu la chance de recevoir plusieurs invités de marque, notamment le Général sénior en service du Régiment et commandant adjoint de l’Armée canadienne, le Major-général J.R.S. Boivin OMM, CSM, CD, le Colonel du Régiment, le Lgén (ret) J.M. Lanthier, CMM, MSC, MSM, CD et le Colonel Commandant du 5 GBMC, le Colonel D.Y.G. Brassard, OMM, CD.

Les membres du 12e Régiment blindé du Canada tiennent à remercier l’Adjuc Breton pour ses réalisations lors de ses trois années de mandat et nous lui souhaitons bonne chance dans son nouveau poste de Sergent-major du 5e Groupe-brigade mécanise du Canada. On Friday, May 1st, 2026, the 12e Régiment blindé du Canada held a parade at 2nd Canadian Division Support Base Valcartier to mark the change of the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) between the outgoing RSM, Chief Warrant Officer E.J.C. Breton, MMM, CD, and the incoming RSM, Chief Warrant Officer M.N. Murphy, MMM, CD.

We were honoured to welcome several distinguished guests, including the Regimental senior serving general and Deputy Commander of the Canadian Army, Major‑General J.R.S. Boivin, OMM, CSM, CD; the Colonel of the Regiment, Lieutenant‑General (Ret’d) J.M. Lanthier, CMM, MSC, MSM, CD; and the Colonel Commandant of 5 CMBG, Colonel D.Y.G. Brassard, OMM, CD.
The members of the 12e Régiment blindé du Canada would like to thank CWO Breton for his accomplishments over his three‑year tenure, and we wish him all the best in his new appointment as Brigade Sergeant Major of 5th Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group. Breton, ont remis des médailles, des promotions, des écus régimentaires, des certificats de départ, une récompense du programme FORCES et un fanion. De plus, le Régiment a reçu un certificat de Centraide et un cadeau de la part du Commandant.

On Friday, March 20, 2026, the 12e Régiment blindé du Canada presented a series of promotions, regimental coins, and departure certificates, at 2 Cdn Div Sp Base Valcartier.
During the event, the Commanding Officer of the Regiment, Lieutenant-Colonel D.G. Cameron, and the Regimental Sergeant-Major, Chief Warrant Officer E.J.C. Breton, presented some medals, promotions, regimental coins, departure certificates, a FORCES programme platinum reward, and a pennant. In addition, the Regiment received a Centraide certificate and a gift to the unit from the Commanding Officer.
