Today, our hearts are heavy.

On behalf of the Gillies Bay Volunteer Fire Department, we extend our deepest condolences to the families, students, teachers, school staff, and the entire community.

There are no words that can fully express the sorrow felt in moments like this. We stand in solidarity with those grieving, those recovering, and all who are struggling to process such an unimaginable event.

We also want to recognize the courage and dedication of the first responders, medical teams, educators, and support personnel who stepped forward in the face of crisis.

In times like these, the strength of community matters most. Please take care of one another, check in on your neighbours, and reach out for support if you need it.

Gillies Bay stands with you in solidarity and support.

Use your brain (while you still have one) to prepare for a zombie apocalypse ❗ 🧠

If zombies come crashing through your neighborhood, you won’t have time to pack. Prepare now by building grab-and-go bags for everyone you live with, including pets.

Be sure to add:

• Food and water
• A phone charger and battery bank
• A battery-powered radio and flashlight
• A first-aid kit and medications
• Personal toiletries and items, such as eyeglasses
• A copy of your emergency plan and important documents
• Seasonal clothing and an emergency blanket
• A helmet to protect your brain from becoming a zombie snack

Once you’ve got the basics, customize each person’s bag to meet their needs, such as extra brains ✔️

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to honor the children who never came home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.
As a fire department, we stand in solidarity with Indigenous peoples and commit to listening, learning, and fostering meaningful relationships rooted in respect, truth, and healing.
Every step toward reconciliation matters.
