Whoo! It has been busy. This weekend, we celebrated Pinawa's 62nd birthday by chilling out with awesome games and fun down at the beach. The AMAZING Pinawa Lions club put on yet another fantastic Beach Games day and we showed up for some Willow & Doe style activities! We had a sand castle contest, shipwreck challenge, sand corn hole, tug-o-war, mandala making, tarp pool, and a rafting competition. SO. MUCH. FUN!

Thanks to everyone who spent time with us at the beach!

NEW! Raft Building Competition - Saturday, July 19th. Please register by Thursday, July 17th.
Build a Raft (2:30pm start)

PRE-REGISTRATION Essential - Limited spaces (registration form at the bottom of this page)
Families Welcome - Great fun for kids, teens, and adults!

Build your raft on the day with teams of two to six, using ONLY materials supplied. The raft will be built on the Pinawa Beach on the day starting at 2:30. Your team will only have 1 hour to build, so you'll need to work fast! At least one team member will race their raft against the other Build a raft teams. Spaces are limited. Paddles will be provided. Please bring a life jacket (we do have some extras).
Then, at 3:30, carry your boat down to the foreshore along with your fellow competitors.
Raft Race at 3:35 - Your team will race your raft to the dock and back - first team back wins (or furthest if no rafts survive).

RULES for Build A Raft Entry:
1. Each team must consist of at least 2 people (we recommend 4 to 6), minimum of 1 adult (aged 18 years or older) per team.
2. 1 or 2 registered team members maximum to propel the boat.
3. A Boat Equipment Package will be supplied by Willow & Doe, but you may barter for items from other teams.
4. Additional building materials may be available from the ‘barter box’.
5. Boat must be built on the beach and then carried to the race line.
6. Tools supplied must be used safely and appropriately.
7. Only registered team members may participate in the building of the boat.
8. Life Jackets must be worn by all team members who enter the water

Check out the GARDEN!

As you may or may not know, the community garden behind P.S.S. needed to close this year due to some needed repairs. BUT, you might have noticed some gardening happening out front of the school!

The LGD of Pinawa recreation, the School District of Whiteshell, and Willow & Doe partnered up to begin work on a new, exciting, intergenerational gardening space! The Willow & Doe Children's garden is there now and 2 new, mobility-friendly, garden beds have been installed. There is some temporary for the season fencing going up, with the goal to build permanent fencing as the garden expands! We start planting tomorrow, so stop in all summer and hang out in the garden. :).
