Community Home Support Lanark County launches a permanent grief and bereavement program to support Lanark County residents navigating loss. 💛

Sessions are free, offered in-person and online, and funded for the long term by the Ontario Ministry of Health. Next sessions begin in September.

Art – Hospice Home Visiting Volunteer

Art has been a dedicated volunteer with our Hospice Home Visiting Service for the past seven years. His compassion and ability to build meaningful connections shine through in every visit. Art quickly establishes rapport with the individuals he supports by thoughtfully tailoring each visit to their interests—whether it’s sharing a quiet cup of coffee and conversation or enjoying an afternoon of cribbage.

Art consistently goes above and beyond for his clients. He has stepped in to drive individuals to last-minute cancer appointments and picked up groceries when they were unable to leave their homes—small acts of kindness that make a significant impact on those he helps.

It is this unwavering kindness, adaptability, and commitment to supporting others that made Art an outstanding candidate for the June Callwood Award—an honour established to recognize exceptional hospice volunteers across Ontario.

We are proud to share that Art recently travelled to Toronto to accept the award at the Hospice Palliative Care Ontario (HPCO) Conference. His contributions truly embody the spirit of hospice care and community support, and we are grateful for the compassion and dedication he brings to his volunteer work every day.

Today is Giving Tuesday. Your generous donation helps support seniors, people with physical disabilities and people diagnosed with terminal/life-limiting illnesses in our community. Your generous support helps clients get transportation to important medical appointments, a healthy meal, and help around the house. Donations can come in various forms. While we appreciate monetary donations, you might also consider donating your time. Volunteering goes a long way in helping our clients get the services they need by transportation, delivery of a meal, and giving caregivers a much-needed break.
