The Municipality of McDougall The Municipality of McDougall is a township in the near north in the District of Parry Sound.

It was named after William McDougall, one of the Fathers of Confederation. In 2000, the Township of McDougall amalgamated with the geographic township of Ferguson, and created the Municipality of McDougall. McDougall benefits significantly from its location along the shores of Georgian Bay and numerous inland lakes. Located just two hours north of Toronto and a 10-minutes north of Parry Sound via Highway 400, McDougall is home to 2,702 permanent residents, with a population that more than doubles in the summer months with the influx of cottagers, seasonal residents and visitors. We are home to multiple rivers and lakes, and nature trails for those who love the outdoors. McDougall is a popular year-round destination for people looking to escape the city, wanting time to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature and the environment offering many recreational activities and opportunities.

Weโ€™re thrilled to share that the McDougall Public Works team had an exciting time at the 4th Annual Parry Sound District AORS Truck Roadeo! A huge congratulations to Jaden Bier for winning first place with his impressive skills. This victory not only showcases Jadenโ€™s talent but also qualifies him for the 2026 AORS Provincial Safety Truck Roadeo in Owen Sound, hosted by the Grey County Public Works Association. Well done, Jaden, and best of luck in Owen Sound!

The Municipality of McDougall has enhanced our waterfront parks by installing new updated equipment at five existing playgrounds (Beaver Trail Beach Park, Bell Lake Beach Park, Meadowcrest Beach Park, Nobel Beach Park, and Taylor Beach Park), and an entirely new playground at Nine Mile Beach. These improvements were made possible in large part because of $450,000 in funding from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC). Residents are encouraged to check out these great new additions to their local beaches.

No open burning is allowed other than campfires for cooking or warmth. The lighting of residential fireworks is banned. Make sure to have water on hand and fully extinguish and soak your fire after use.
