I think sometimes new calligraphers get stuck in the "practice-only" mode when they learn something new. Under 's excellent tutelage, I've been able to really stretch my creative muscles with these artful and cheerful flourishes (and who doesn't need flowers?). But if all I do is practice with these new skills I've learned, then all I'll be good at is practicing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you learn something new, make a finished piece out of it - even if it's to gift to a friend or to add to your portfolio. You just have to move past that fear of the blank page and create something uniquely you. You'll be surprised how much you learn and grow just in creating these fun little pieces!

As someone who has committed an alarming number of hours to Skyrim and also is a consummate book hoarder, I was extremely enthused when I was approached to create this Charter for my favorite Skyrim mod. In it, the plethora of books and artifacts are collected in an immaculate museum which are displayed for public viewing. It really breathed new life into the game for me and spoke deeply to me a someone who Collects All the Things.

I have stumbled across what is simply the most amazing mod in Skyrim. I am one of those people that definitively must collect all the books, and I admit my organizational skills in Skyrim seem to transfer from those I have in the mundane plane of existence.

No more with this Legacy of the Dragonborn mod! Now all of my books are sorted and organized for me, with the most prominent ones put on display (although I have yet to determine how some books are displayed above other). There is a *card catalog* that puts my books not only in order, but sorted by type. Not to mention, of course, the rest of the museum that puts all of the interesting finds on display as I traipse across Skyrim.

This piece is the first page from the "Beggar" book by Eslaf Erol (False Lore backwards). I have yet to find a Meaning of Flowers book for Skyrim or Tamriel, but I suppose Deathbells are *probably* a safe bet for a bad omen to use as the central motif.

While I only dabble in sewing (I have a delightful treadle sewing machine named Minerva), I have only recently delved into the field of hand sewing (yes, tis indeed still a thing!). It has been wonderful to see my feed inundated with such elaborate garb to motivate me in my own small sewing endeavors.

In honor of Historicalness, I have painted the lighter shades of blue with lapis lazuli, a stone that was often ground to create the vivid blues that can be found in many medieval paintings and manuscripts.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Indeed, there is something wonderfully practical about most historical clothing (for example, fabulously deep pockets in skirts) that I feel that our Modern Era tends to overlook. Far from the ladies overwhelmed with tightlacing corsetry til their bones were rent asunder and other myths, these clothes were ones that people worked and lived in each day, and indeed enjoyed doing so. The research that many of these historical clothing creators uncover is truly a treasure trove of not only how people lived then, but also, I feel, reveals a bit of the foibles and "Time Snobbery" of our modern day.

After a Series of Unfortunate Events, I managed to come up with a little something for . For , created this piece, thinking that perhaps a well-meaning hedge witch came across this recipe whilst muddling with some findings from a late night forage. After discovering her findings (hopefully without too much mishap) she then penned the potion in her book of findings next to a Luck Potion or somesuch.

It was actually rather difficult to find a flower that was not a variant of "love" or some other felicitous meaning. However, Belladonna has a quite definitive meaning of bad fortune! I would not recommend that you try this recipe at home. 😉

A beautiful first day at , and what a way to start! So many cosplays this year; I feel like everyone is on point and bringing their A game. I spotted this amazing Percy and Vex dressed for their wedding - I can't believe Vex's cosplay was made last night!

I have a newfound respect for and . I never realized how... trying... it is to do video work. And my piece is just ... well, it's a very small thing compared to what most people are creating, but I hope that a wee bit of magic brings a bit of brightness to your day!

This piece was inspired by the kdrama "Hotel Del Luna" which is almost a reverse Beauty and the Beast series but with... ghosts? I'm quite enjoying it so far!

And now to move on to more... mundane... tasks. 😊👻
