Today is World Refugee Day.

World Refugee Day recognizes the strength, resilience, and contributions of people who have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict, persecution, or violence.

While Canada offers safety and opportunity for many newcomers, significant challenges remain. Recent data shows that 77.8% of refugees experiencing homelessness reported that their first experience of homelessness occurred after arriving in Canada. This highlights the barriers many refugees face in securing stable housing and rebuilding their lives.

At Blue Door, we believe everyone deserves a safe place to call home. Today, we recognize the experiences of refugees in our communities and the importance of creating pathways to housing, stability, and belonging for all. 💙

United Way hosted their very first United Way Labour Cares Hygiene Kit making event and kindly donated all the kits made to Blue Door. The kits contained a mix of feminine hygiene products, toothbrushes, hair care, journals and more!
