Harry James Wood (1865- ) was in business in Newburgh before 1900. It is not known if the man in the picture is H.J. Wood, or one of his several employees. The Wood family lived close to the home of Dr. Beeman, who is known to have driven a grey horse on his rounds.

The Lodge Hall was built c. 1860 and used as a commercial store. The post office was located here in 1878 and by 1885 it was a drugstore. The facade of the building was severely damaged in the great fire of 1887, however the stone walls are very much intact. In 1985 the ground floor of the building was a hardware store and the upper floor was the Masonic Lodge Hall.
