BREAKING: Effective 4 PM today due to very dry and risky conditions — the woods are CLOSED. No hiking, no camping in the woods, or use of vehicles or trail systems through the woods.

Restrictions apply to both PRIVATE and PROVINCIAL CROWN LAND. Permits can be obtained for work.

This is another layer of protection on top of the burn ban. Any violations of the mentioned protection layers can result in $25,000 fine. RCMP and DNRR can issue these charges.

Camping remains permitted at official campground.

This is a proactive preventative effort.

Municipalities are issuing water conservation efforts. Across the country over 700 fires are burning. Over 100 small wildfires have occurred this year (to-date) in Nova Scotia.

A downpour is not going to remove these restrictions. We need DAYS of rain.
