June is Stroke Awareness Month 🫀🧠
Stroke can happen to anyone, at any age. Knowing the signs of stroke and acting FAST can save a life.

As part of Stroke Awareness Month, we're sharing a conversation featuring Holly, one of our team members, and local resident Robyn, who both experienced strokes at a young age. On Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare 'The Pulse' podcast, they share their stories to help raise awareness of stroke symptoms, the importance of immediate medical care, and the realities of recovery.

Did you know Huntsville District Memorial Hospital is our District Stroke Centre? We are incredibly fortunate to have access to specialized stroke care close to home and are proud to support stroke awareness efforts alongside MAHC.

The Township of Lake of Bays is pleased to announce that Shane Taylor has been appointed as Deputy Fire Chief, as the Township continues building toward an independent fire service.

“Some things are changing. Some things aren’t,” said Fire Chief Jeremy Alldred-Hughes. “Shane has spent more than 30 years serving Lake of Bays. He started here, trained here, and worked his way up through the ranks to Station Chief in Hillside. As we move through this transition, that kind of experience matters. It means the people leading your fire service intimately understand the roads, the challenges, and the community they serve. We’re proud to have Shane step into this role and help lead what comes next.”

Public Notice | Gravel road dust control starts next week.

📅 Beginning the week of June 15, Public Works will be treating Township-maintained gravel roads across the community, covering about 100 km.

This annual work helps keep dust down and helps bind the gravel together, resulting in a more durable driving surface.

⚠️ Please slow down and use caution when driving through active work areas or on recently treated roads.
