🔥 OFFICIAL GRAND OPENING 🔥

The Rural Municipality of Wheatlands No. 163 is pleased to invite ratepayers and community members to the official grand opening of the new Satellite Fire Hall, located at 219 Saskatchewan St.

Wednesday, July 8, 2026 @ 12 pm

Join us for a complimentary BBQ lunch, generously provided by the RM of Wheatlands No. 163 and the Village of Mortlach. Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the newly constructed facility and learn more about its role in serving our communities.

The Satellite Fire Hall is a branch of the Thunder Creek Fire Department, a regional partnership involving the RM of Caron No. 162, the RM of Wheatlands No. 163, the Village of Caronport, and the Village of Mortlach. Together, these municipalities provide fire protection and emergency response services to residents throughout the region.

We look forward to celebrating this important addition to our emergency services infrastructure with you!

Through Saskatchewan’s Strychnine Stewardship Program, eligible producers can take the following steps to access strychnine for responsible control of Richardson’s ground squirrels.

🚨WE DO NOT CURRENTLY HAVE STRYCHNINE IN STOCK🚨

⭐️The RM is planning to have stock for the NEXT CYCLE - July 15-September 1⭐️

1. Complete online training - sarm.ca/strychnine-stewardship-training
2. Submit a mandatory Treatment Plan and Declaration Form - https://publications.saskatchewan.ca/api/v1/products/128650/formats/154324/download

🛑Steps 1 and 2 must be completed prior to the RM selling any producer strychnine🛑

3. Purchase through your RM
4. Apply during recommended windows (March 1 to June 15 and July 15 to September 1)
5. Complete the Product Evaluation Form

✅The RM of Wheatlands No. 163 has received approval for designation as an eligible assistance area under the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP) for livestock loss relief related to the Heavy Snow events of April 16–19, 2026, and April 23–25, 2026.

🐂Producers who experienced uninsured livestock losses exceeding $5,000.00 for an individual farming operation as a result of these winter storm events are encouraged to contact the RM office.

W**D CONTROL

The RM of Wheatlands No. 163 continues to support local w**d control efforts through both contracted services and herbicide availability.

In addition to services provided by Marksmen Vegetation, the RM currently has TORDON and GRAZON herbicides available for purchase at cost.

Ratepayers may also qualify for reimbursement of up to 50% of the purchase cost through the SARM Invasive Plant Control Program. RM administration staff are available to assist ratepayers with the application process if required.

Crop Reports have been mailed out. Completion of reports are due JUNE 15. In addition to your crop reports, you will also find information on Municipal Hail and its products, a rate list for the RM of Wheatlands No. 163 and a rate guide to assist you in selecting your deductible coverage option.

What's NEW for 2026:
* Pea & Chickpea surcharges have been reduced to 1.8 times the basic rate.
* Some deductible factors have been reduced.
* Basic township rates, on provincial basis, have decreased.
* Indemnity limits range from $35 to $375 per acre.
