Friends! We’ve turned our artwork into a velvet pillow collection - and we’re donating $20 of every pillow sold to an innovative Canadian forestry research project called The Mother Tree Project.
We’re hoping these pillows bring the sense of joy we feel on forest walks into your homes.
The excitement at discovering a mushroom that popped up overnight. The calm you feel when you’re around old trees. The sensory pleasure of patting moss and sitting down and exploring the intricate worlds that can be found on the forest floor.
Moths, moss, mushrooms and mycelium and Mother Trees are all pictured in these pillows, based on our original artwork, which we’ve collaborated on over the years.
As nature nerds, we love learning about the fascinating, networked relationships between fungi and plants.
🌳 Why did we choose to donate to The Mother Tree Project?
Because the name Suzanne Simard has been popping up in almost every book we’ve read about trees over the years. She’s a pioneering forest ecology professor who was one of the first scientists to discover—and promote—the concept that trees communicate and share resources through mycelial networks, a theory that goes against the long held notion that forests are ruled by competition. Simard’s Mother Tree Project brings together academia, government, forestry companies, research forests, community forests and First Nations to identify and design successful forest renewal practices.
