Neighbours Helping Neighbours: Strengthening our Community Through The Parking Foundation

At the Lakeshore Corridor Community Team (LCCTeam), our mission has always been rooted in the spirit of "Neighbours Helping Neighbours." We believe that a stronger Mississauga is built through connection, collaboration, and supporting those who work tirelessly to improve the lives of our residents.

On April 8, 2026, we were honoured to take another step in that mission during a meeting of the CARP Mississauga Chapter at the Vic Johnston Community Centre. In front of a room full of dedicated community advocates, the LCCTeam proudly presented a donation of $3,000 to The Parking Foundation.

A Partnership Rooted in Connection
This meaningful connection was made possible through the dedication of our Ward 1 City Councillor, Stephen Dasko. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to Councillor Dasko for his unwavering commitment to our city and for his constant efforts to connect people who care. By bringing The Parking Foundation to our attention, he has helped us support a cause that aligns perfectly with our grassroots values.

The Heart Behind The Parking Foundation
The Parking Foundation was born out of a deeply personal and moving story. Founded by Rose Bilak in loving memory of Stephen Louis Bilak, the foundation honours Stephen’s legacy following his 66-day stay in the ICU. During that incredibly difficult time, his family faced over $1,000 in parking fees—a financial hardship that no family should have to endure while caring for a hospitalized loved one.

Stephen’s story inspired a mission of pure compassion: to ensure no family ever has to choose between being bedside with a loved one and the mounting cost of hospital parking. Their mission is simple but profound: providing complimentary hospital parking passes to families in need, starting with pediatric cancer families. By building this legacy of compassion, they ensure that "parking" is one less worry during life’s toughest battles.

Why This Matters to LCCTeam
Why did the LCCTeam choose to support The Parking Foundation? Because we believe in removing burdens from our neighbours when they are most vulnerable.

As a registered charity in Port Credit, we look for initiatives that provide direct, tangible support. The Parking Foundation turns a personal journey into a lifeline for others, ensuring that compassion, access, and dignity are part of every hospital stay. By supporting Rose’s vision, we are helping ensure that our neighbours can focus entirely on what matters most: healing and each other.

Join Us in Supporting This Cause
We are incredibly proud to support Rose and her team in this vital mission. However, the work doesn't stop with one cheque. To truly ease the burden for families across Mississauga, we need the collective power of our community.

We encourage you to learn more about their mission and join us in donating to this worthy cause.

🎱 Waterfront Businesses — This One’s For You

Oakville. Port Credit. Mississauga.
We share the shoreline — and we share the responsibility to strengthen the community that supports us.

The Lakeshore Corridor Community Team invites waterfront businesses, hospitality leaders, professional firms, and local entrepreneurs to take part in the 4th Annual "Cues 4 Campers" Charity Billiards Tournament.

📍 Hosted at The Crooked Cue, Port Credit
📅 April 22, 2026 | 6:00 – 9:00 PM

This is more than a tournament. It’s a strategic opportunity to:

• Engage your team in a meaningful community event
• Connect with fellow business owners along the Lakeshore corridor
• Increase local visibility in a trusted charitable setting
• Directly help send underprivileged children to summer camp

For businesses rooted along the lake, this is a chance to give back to the families who walk past your storefronts, dine in your restaurants, stay in your hotels, and support your services year-round.

Community supporting community. 💙

On February 13, LCCTeam presented Sacha Gendron with $1,200 in gift cards in support of her Good Deeds Project.

President Erin Whitton, Vice-President Marcelo Pazan, and Treasurer Gloria Pazan gathered at Massage by the Lake to formally present the donation. These funds will go directly toward helping individuals and families in need through Sacha’s grassroots outreach efforts.

Acts of kindness matter — especially in challenging times.

Thank you, Sacha, for being a true community helper. We are proud to stand beside you.

🎄 Gift of Christmas 2025 – A Community United 🎄

Our 14th Annual Gift of Christmas was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when neighbours come together with care and intention.

Families from community food banks and centres across the Lakeshore Corridor were welcomed into a beautifully decorated space to enjoy a delicious turkey lunch, joyful entertainment by Carla Gonzales, crafts, treats, and special moments with Santa Claus, played once again by Max Letham.

Each household received a Shoebox filled with essentials from The Shoebox Project, every child received meaningful gifts, and adults took home a centrepiece plant as a lasting reminder of the day.

We were honoured by the support of Rudy Cuzzetto, who presented a certificate recognizing LCCTeam’s service since 1999, and Ward One Councillor Stephen Dasko, who stopped by to show continued support.

Additional gifts were delivered to Armagh House Women’s Shelter, extending the impact even further.

Special thanks to Pazan Gallery for their professional photography, video production, and website updates that helped capture and share this event with the wider community.
