PCFD is staffed with dedicated volunteers who improve their skills through ongoing training in first aid/rescue, fire suppression (structure, auto, wildland), auto extrication and more. We are committed to public safety and consider it a privilage to serve in our community.

This week, the crew focused on search and rescue techniques, learning a variety of search patterns and victim drag methods used during emergency operations. Members participated in both classroom discussions and hands-on practical training in the bay, giving them the opportunity to practice these skills on one another. This realistic approach allowed firefighters to experience firsthand what works well, what challenges may arise, and how important proper technique is when removing a victim from a structure safely and efficiently.

We also had the privilege of welcoming back a member of the True North FOOLS organization to assist with our training. His willingness to share his knowledge, experience, and passion for the fire service provided valuable insight for our members and helped reinforce the skills being practiced throughout the evening.

A sincere thank you for taking the time out of your day to join us. We always appreciate the opportunity to learn from experienced firefighters and continue building our knowledge and capabilities as a department. Your support and mentorship are greatly appreciated! πŸš’πŸ”₯

Over the past couple of weeks, our crews have been sharpening their skills in portable pumping operations. In a rural community like ours where fire hydrants are not available, these operations are a critical part of supplying water during fire calls and ensuring our tankers can be refilled quickly and efficiently when large volumes of water are needed.

Members have been working hard on improving techniques to maximize water flow, reduce fill times, and strengthen overall efficiency on the fire ground. Training like this helps ensure we are always prepared to provide the best possible service to our community when every second counts.

We also had the privilege of welcoming Jacques Thibeault to our station for annual pump testing on our trucks. Pump testing is essential in making sure our apparatus are operating safely and meeting the required standards. Jacques not only helped push our trucks to their limits to verify performance, but also shared valuable knowledge and experience with our members throughout the process.

Thank you, Jacques, for your continued support, expertise, and of course the laughter you bring to every testing day! πŸš’πŸ’¦

We would like to extend a huge and heartfelt thank you to Northern Mobile Pressure Washing for their outstanding generosity, hard work, and support of our Fire Department.

While attending Thunder Valley – Black Fly Addition, their team spent countless hours washing big rigs in the heat and dust, all while maintaining an incredible attitude and professionalism. What makes this even more remarkable is that they chose to donate ALL of the proceeds directly back to our department.

Because of their generosity, these funds will go directly toward purchasing new equipment from our department’s wish list β€” equipment that will help us continue serving and protecting our community safely and effectively. Support from businesses like this truly goes a long way and does not go unnoticed.

Northern Mobile Pressure Washing is a company that not only takes pride in the quality of their work, but also believes in giving back to the communities they work in. Their dedication, community spirit, and willingness to support first responders is something we deeply appreciate.

They will be back again at Thunder Valley in August, so make sure to stop by, support them, and check out their page to see the amazing work they do. We highly encourage everyone to give them a follow and keep them in mind for your pressure washing needs!

Thank you again, Northern Mobile Pressure Washing β€” your support means more than words can express! πŸš’πŸ§ΌπŸ‘

Congratulations to these fine gentlemen on successfully achieving their Firefighter 1 certification!

This accomplishment represents countless hours of dedication, hard work, and commitment to the fire service. What makes this achievement even more special is that the entire training process was completed in-house through the dedication and leadership of our Training Officer O’Grady. Week after week, he has invested an incredible amount of time, effort, and knowledge into preparing our members not only to meet the standards required for certification, but to become confident, capable firefighters on the fire ground.

Having the ability to complete this level of training within our own department is something we are extremely proud of. It speaks volumes about the passion, experience, and commitment to growth within our crew. The hands-on training, mentorship, and real-world knowledge provided to our members continues to strengthen our department and build a solid foundation for the future.

Over the next 6–12 months, more of our crew members will continue progressing through their skill sign offs as we work toward having all members certified to the Firefighter 1 level and beyond. Continuous training and education are what help build a stronger, safer, and more prepared department for our community.

Congratulations again to Mitchell Sarrazin, Nelson Jenking and Jacob Dupley on this well-earned achievement β€” your department is proud of you! πŸš’πŸ‘

Training continues as usual for the members here at PCFD, but this week we want to take a moment to recognize some of the incredible individuals who help make this department such a great place to be. Behind every successful department are dedicated leaders who continuously give their time, knowledge, and support to help others grow.

πŸš’ Chief O’Grady β€” a leader who consistently demonstrates dedication, passion, and commitment to both the department and its members. Never afraid to get his hands dirty or step in wherever needed, Chief leads by example and is always willing to lend a helping hand when it matters most.

πŸš’ Deputy Labreche β€” a strong, hardworking, and passionate individual who keeps the department moving behind the scenes. From assisting new members with applications, handling administration and call reports, to managing radio communications, she is always willing to share her extensive knowledge and help guide new firefighters along the way.

πŸš’ Training Officer O’Grady β€” someone who truly has a passion for the fire service and a dedication to teaching. Week after week, he provides valuable knowledge, practical skills, and hands-on training to ensure our members are prepared, confident, and continuing to work toward their certifications and growth as firefighters.

The countless hours, effort, and commitment these individuals put into our department do not go unnoticed. PCFD is grateful for your leadership, mentorship, and everything you continue to do for our members and community. Thank you for helping shape this department into what it is today. πŸ€πŸš’

Our training this week was taken to the next level!

We had the absolute privilege of hosting three members from True North FOOLS, who brought incredible knowledge, experience, and energy to the night as they walked us through vertical ventilation operations.

Crews were split into hands-on stations, with one group focusing on the proper start-up and operation of the K-12 roof saw, while the rest trained on a live fire vent prop using chainsaws alongside our Training Officer and guest instructors.

This type of training pushes our members outside their comfort zones, sharpens critical skills, and builds the confidence needed for real-world scenarios. The intensity, teamwork, and willingness to learn were evident across the board.

For those who may not know, FOOLS stands for the International Fraternal Order of Leatherheads Society, representing a brotherhood of firefighters dedicated to training, tradition, and firemanship.

We can’t thank True North FOOLS (Robbie, Cody & Pat) enough for taking the time to come out, share their expertise, and invest in our department. Opportunities like this are invaluable, and we’re extremely grateful for the continued support and brotherhood within the fire service. πŸ€πŸš’

A big thank you to our brothers from Calvin Fire Department for coming out tonight and working alongside us to stockpile sandbags as flooding is already impacting parts of our surrounding community.

Their support, teamwork, and quick response during an active situation truly make a difference. By preparing now, we’re able to better protect homes, properties, and the people who call this community home.

We’re grateful to stand side by side with such a dedicated crew. Stronger together, especially when it matters most. πŸ’ͺπŸš’
