Union Water Supply System UWSS Inc. is an incorporation with 4 local shareholders: Towns of Essex & Kingsville, & The Municipalities of Lakeshore & Leamington.

It strives to provide safe drinking water to approximately 68,000 residents. The UWSS is operated by the OCWA.

As the summer season is now starting to shine, the UWSS Inc. Hydration Station will be seen around our shareholder municipalities. Over the past two seasons we have provided safe, fresh, clean drinking water to various community events and will continue to do so this summer. We work with our municipal partners and our team at the Ontario Clean Water Agency to bring this service to soccer tournaments, ball tournaments and some community events where staffing allows. Look for us out and about this summer and bring your bottle to fill up on the hot summer days.

The Union Water Supply System will be hosting a Public Information Centre (PIC) for our Municipal Class EA for Union Water and the Windsor Utilities Commission joint study on water supply resilience and emergency preparedness. This is the second information centre, the first was held in 2025. UWSS and WUC are conducting and EA to identify alternatives, evaluate environmental impacts and gather public input.

It might not seem like it, but warmer weather is on the way, with that comes the yearly reminder of the summer lawn watering by-laws that are in place within the Union Water Supply System municipalities. The by-laws are in place to help reduce peak demand during the hot summer months. Remember if your house is an odd number, you water on odd days, if its even numbered, you water on even numbered days. Please consider watering your lawn and garden between 5 am - 8 am and from 6 pm to midnight, so set your timers appropriately. Please review our lawn watering brochure or your municipal lawn watering by-law on our website.

The Union Water Supply System Inc. (UWSS) is proud to provide safe, fresh, clean water drinking water to all of the residents within our communities, but with World Water Day being celebrated on March 22nd, we are reminded that not every community is as fortunate as we are to have such a privilege. This year's theme "Where water flows, equality grows" also reminds us that throughout the world women and girls bear the brunt of collecting and managing drinking water for their families. The United Nations also releases their research information on the growing water crisis effecting so many lives around the globe.
