RE: Election Signs:

The OPP is reminding residents that damaging, removing, defacing, stealing, or otherwise interfering with election signs may constitute a criminal offence and could result in a police investigation.

Acts of mischief and property damage can impact property owners, candidates, volunteers, and the community. Residents are encouraged to respect public and private property.

Anyone with information regarding incidents of property damage, vandalism, or interference with election signs is encouraged to contact police.

La Police provinciale de l’Ontario (OPP) rappelle aux résidents que le fait d’endommager, d’enlever, de dégrader, de voler ou de perturber de quelque manière que ce soit les affiches électorales peut constituer une infraction criminelle et donner lieu à une enquête policière.

Les actes de méfait et les dommages matériels peuvent avoir des répercussions sur les propriétaires, les candidats, les bénévoles et la collectivité. Les résidents sont invités à respecter les biens publics et privés.

Toute personne disposant d’informations concernant des incidents de dommages matériels, de vandalisme ou d’atteinte aux affiches électorales est invitée à communiquer avec la police.

Are you a municipal election candidate or campaign volunteer?

To support a fair, safe, and well-organized election, all election signage within the Township of Frontenac Islands is regulated under By-law #010-2026.

Before placing election signs, review the Township’s Election Sign By-law for the requirements for placement, and removal of Election signs.

We encourage candidates, volunteers and residents to familiarize themselves with the by-law and work together to maintain a positive and respectful election environment.

We also remind everyone that election signs are an important part of the democratic process. Damaging, tampering with, or removing election signs is prohibited and may result in fines or charges.

Following the August 21 candidate registration deadline, our latest analysis takes a closer look at the people who have put their names forward across Ontario.

🗳️ 6,663 candidates are running for approximately 2,800 elected positions, a slight increase from last year
🆕 68% are new candidates to municipal office while 77% of current elected officials are running for re-election
📉 Acclamations are down, with 400 candidates acclaimed compared with 548 in 2022.
👩 32% of candidates are female, up from 27% in 2018.
💻 66% municipalities are offering internet voting, up from 52% in 2022.

These numbers provide an early look at participation and representation ahead of the October 26 municipal elections.

Labour Day Office Closure

Please note that Township offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, for the Labour Day holiday.

📅 Offices will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

♻️ Wolfe Island Transfer Site

The Wolfe Island Transfer Site will also be closed on Monday,
September 7 and will reopen on Wednesday, September 9 at Noon.

🗑️ Howe Island Garbage Collection

Howe Island garbage collection will be picked up on Tuesday, September 8
