The Okanagan Bouldering Society

The Okanagan Bouldering Society was formed in 2015 with the express purpose of promoting bouldering in the Okanagan valley and promote area development in an environmentally conscious and socially responsible manner. We are dedicated to advocating for the continued access to local bouldering areas and building beneficial relationships with the various private and public land owner and management g

roups. The OBS can be counted on to act in the best Interests of the Okanagan bouldering community and also to promote the ethical and responsible use of all Okanagan bouldering areas including encouraging limited access to sensitive areas. The Okanagan Valley has quickly become the second largest developed bouldering area in Canada and has become a world class destination in its own right. Lets all do our part to respect it and maintain and protect it so we can continue to enjoy the absolutely spectacular bouldering that we have here.

OBS Information Sessions

Hey everyone! We are starting to wake up from hibernation as the Okanagan climbing season gets closer. Every year we see more and more people eager to take their new found climbing skills outdoors. Come say hey at one of our up and coming information booths. We will tell you all about who we are, access, membership perks, events, and upcoming trail days. Plus some recommendations about our favourite boulders.

First ones are this week at gneiss.

We are a week away ladies and gentlemen! Can’t wait to see you all up at the fields next Saturday for Just a little PSA please remember that a fire ban is in effect, and will continue through next week. So if you’re planning on camping next weekend up at the fields think about bringing some lights for your campsite as campfires are prohibited.

We’re getting closer, only two weeks until Rock the Blocs 11! Some things to note if you’re interested in participating:

👨‍💻 ✍️ Make sure to register ahead of time at www.okanaganboulderingsociety.org! Same day sign-up will be available but pre-registration allows better predictions for parking, camping, and total numbers! So help us out, registration is FREE!

🗺️ 📲 Make sure to download the Kaya app beforehand and submit your username in the RtB registration form to gain free access to Kaya Pro for the weekend!

🚗🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 If you can, please carpool and follow parking attendant instructions! There is limited parking at the fields, and we do our best to organize the parking lot, but it is always tight. There is no parking on the KVR, and the drop-in road cannot be blocked to keep it clear for emergency vehicle access.

🎟️ 🦺 LAST BUT NOT LEAST, if you would like to volunteer for the event, please reach out to us! We’re still looking for people to help out with parking, raffle booth sales, sign-up table, and first aid! And don’t worry, volunteering doesn’t exclude you from participating in the competition.

Spread the word, we’re excited to see everyone for a great weekend of climbing, clinics, competition, and contests!

6th Annual Wild and Scenic Film Festival!

Friday Feb 28th. Get your tickets today!!

The WSFF is one of the largest environmental film festivals in North America, and the curated line up of 9 films showcases the importance of nature and sport.

The films showcase the impact of nature and the power of sport worldwide from Africa to Afghanistan and right here in the Pacific Northwest. All proceeds from the event support  Elevation Outdoors and their mission to help break down the barriers for local youth to access the outdoors through mentorship and life skill development programs. OBS x Kaya updates:

After a highly successful festival last month, we're starting to add more bouldering areas to the app!

💪Currently, the following areas are now complete:
- Boulderfields: 1208 problems
- Pebble Beach: 38 problems
- John's Family Park: 37 problems
- Bellevue Creek: 15 problems
- The Ruins: almost complete

💪The OBS is the sole moderator for all bouldering areas in the Okanagan. If you would like to add a new FA that is currently not in the app (or an FA that was done after the guidebook was printed) head to our website and click on "Kaya" for information on how to do this (link below):
