George St. Construction Progress Report- Sept. 14 to Sept. 25, 2026

Despite the rain delays, concrete work has progressed along George Street. The main sidewalk and curbs are nearing completion.

Following the concrete work, the parking lanes and roadway will be fine graded in preparation for paving the base course. The final “infills” of sidewalk should be done mid-week September 14th.
The anticipated completion of Oak Street and George Street West is the end of September. This includes line painting and landscaping.

1️⃣What is new in the 2026 Municipal Election?
The Township has eliminated the ward system so that all council positions are elected at large.

2️⃣What positions can I vote for in the 2026 election?
In 2026, each eligible voter will be able to cast a ballot for the following positions:
Mayor – You may select one (1) for the position of Mayor
Deputy Mayor - You may select one (1) for the position of Deputy Mayor
Councillor - You may select up to three (3) for the position of Councillor

In person voting will be held between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber located at the Municipal Office (1 Ottawa Street East) on Monday, October 26, 2026.

Village of Havelock - Bi-Annual Leaf and Yard Collection Notice

The regularly scheduled bi-annual Leaf and Yard material collection is taking place in specific areas across Peterborough County!

VILLAGE OF HAVELOCK:

• October 5 to 9, 2026
• October 19 to 23, 2026
• November 2 to 6, 2026
• November 16 to 20, 2026

Please follow the guidelines to ensure your leaf and yard materials are collected:

1. Collect leaves, plants, brush and tree clippings in paper bags or reusable garbage containers with the lids off Materials in plastic bags will not be collected

2. Bundle branches no larger than 1m x 30cm (3'x1') Whole trees will not be collected - please ensure they follow instructions above

3. Place at the roadside before 7am on the Monday of your collection week. Collection may occur any day from Monday to Friday, not necessarily on garbage or recycling day.

There are no limits and no tags required for leaf and yard materials. Please visit our Leaf and Yard Collection Maps (https://www.ptbocounty.ca/en/living/leaf-and-yardcollection-maps.aspx) page to view the collection zones.
