Fun Fact Friday ✅ It’s Invasive Species Awareness Week!

Did you know some garden plants can become serious environmental problems? Knotweed is one of the most aggressive invasive plants in BC. It spreads rapidly, damages infrastructure, crowds out native plants, and is extremely difficult to remove once established.

That’s why the Village has a bylaw requiring property owners to prevent and control invasive species like knotweed.

➡ The good news? There are beautiful, eco-friendly alternatives! The Invasive Species Council of BC has even created a handy “Grow Me Instead” resource, to help you choose plants that support local wildlife and help protect our natural spaces. Choosing the right plants helps keep our community healthy, protects biodiversity, and prevents costly invasive species management 🌱
