Nova Scotia Revolutionary Socialist Party

Nova Scotia Revolutionary Socialist Party Power should lie in the hands of the people, especially workers and marginalized communities. Capitalism has led to the environmental destruction of our planet.

The Nova Scotia Revolutionary Socialist Party is dedicated to building a society based on the principles of Marxism-Leninism, where the working class leads the way to a new era of equality, justice, and collective prosperity.
*This is a class project* We believe that the capitalist system inherently exploits workers and that the working class must unite to overthrow this system and establish a de

mocratic, socialist society. We advocate for direct democratic control of all industries, resources, and governance. Our struggle is not just for Nova Scotia but for the liberation of workers everywhere. We seek to build alliances with revolutionary movements globally and support the overthrow of imperialism and capitalism in all its forms. We stand in solidarity with workers, Indigenous communities, and oppressed groups, both in Nova Scotia and worldwide, in the fight for social, economic, and environmental justice. The Nova Scotia Revolutionary Socialist Party supports sustainable, socialist policies that prioritize both people and the planet.

"My vote doesn't matter" - said by thousands of voters every election. You may feel like your vote doesn't matter because it is not reflected in our current first-past-the-post voting system. One party should not be able to have all the power at the end of the day.

Nova Scotia is a diverse province and our diversity should be reflected in the legislature. A proportional representation voting system is better suited to reflect our diversity.

All votes matter.

The time for change is now.

Utilities should be in the hands of the people, not companies who profit from providing the basic necessities. We should not be the ones suffering from outrageous power bills.

Did you know the Emera management team and board members make over a combined $20 million a year? 24 individuals who have no issues paying for their power bills and rate increases while tens of thousands of Nova Scotians alone do.

The time for change is now.

Das Kapital volumes I, II, & III, are also a must read for those with interest in the cause. The series builds on the thoughts from the Communist Manifesto and critiques the capitalist political economy.

Key Goals of the NSRSP

Workers’ Control of Industry: Establishing democratic, worker-run cooperatives and industries that benefit the public, not corporate profits.

State Owned Utilities: Seizing control of NS Power, Halifax Water, and other utility companies (municipally speaking) to ensure rates are not exploitative, and budget deficits are not put on consumers.

Proportional Representation: Institutional reforms that remove the first-past-the-post (FPTP) voting system to ensure party and independent representation in the legislature is based on percentage of vote share.

Universal Healthcare and Education: Expanding free public healthcare and education, ensuring access for all citizens regardless of income.

Environmental Sustainability: Implementing policies to fight climate change that focus on green energy, the dismantling of polluting industries, and ensuring that working-class communities are not left behind in this transition.

Social and Economic Equality: A progressive tax system that ensures the wealthy contribute their fair share, redistributing wealth for the public good, and creating programs that address homelessness, unemployment, and poverty.

End to Corporate Influence in Politics: Removing corporate lobbying and political corruption, restoring democratic control to the people, and ensuring that politicians work for the people, not for big business.

Compulsory Voting: To help with the declining voter turnout, policies to reduce the voting age to 16 to be in line with the legal driving age and when the majority of people begin (taxable) work will be implemented along with implementing compulsory voting onto taxpayers. If you pay taxes (illegal not to), you vote.
