The Grandview & District Community Foundation is proud to announce that the GV Recreation Commission is this year’s recipient of the Thomas Sill Foundation Grant! 🎉
This funding will go toward the Ice Plant Replacement Fund, supporting an important upgrade for our community.
The Thomas Sill Foundation Grant is awarded annually through regional community foundations, continuing a legacy of giving and community support. We are grateful for the opportunity to bring this funding to Grandview and area, and to help strengthen local recreation for everyone.

It is that time of year again! Our annual community appreciation BBQ is right around the corner. Mark your calendars.

❤️Grants in Action❤️

Mrs. Kelsey Pulock sent in a grant request for a bike desk for her classroom. Here is what she has to say about the addition:

"The bike desk my classroom received from the Grandview and District Community Foundation has been an invaluable support to all students in my grade four class. It is rare that the bike goes unused during work periods. This provides opportunities for movement throughout the day. Students are more productive in my class when given the chance to move while they are working."

We are happy to help make purchases like this possible.

May 5th is a National Day of Awareness and remembrance for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ people. We lend our voices in support for the families and communities who continue to pursue justice, healing, and change.

Red Dress Day honours Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit+ people, as well as survivors and their families. It is a day of remembrance for the lives lost and forever changed, and a call to end the ongoing violence faced by Indigenous communities.

The movement began with Manitoba Métis artist Jaime Black, who installed red dresses in public spaces as powerful symbols of loss, absence, and resilience. These empty dresses serve as a visual reminder that this crisis continues.

The Grandview & District Community Foundation is proud to recognize our local First Responders today in honor of National First Responders Day. May 1 is a time to acknowledge the bravery, dedication, and sacrifice of the men and women who are first on the scene during emergencies - including police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and 911 operators. We thank you for your unwavering service to our community and are happy to provide funding for local initiatives.

LONG POST ALERT‼️‼️

Sunday, April 26 marks the 3rd Annual Community Foundations Day in Manitoba. In 2023, the Province of Manitoba established April 26 as Community Foundations Day in Manitoba in recognition of the significant impact community foundations have on their respective communities. This week, if you see one of our directors, stop us for a chat! We would love to hear about your experiences with the Grandview & Disctrict Community Foundation and learn what questions our community members have. If you attended our information session last week, let us know what you thought!

We asked our directors to share one word that comes to mind when they think about our Community Foundation! Now we want to hear from you! Let us know in the comments what single word comes to mind when you think about the Grandview & District Community Foundation.
