We had an awesome Business Networking Coffee Break this morning at the Grand Rodeo .
This is our second such event in the last year or so and it was really well attended. Lots of great conversation and networking. We may host another in the fall of this year.

Thanks to all that came out.

I attended the Exploits Cruise Ship Symposium in Botwood yesterday. It was an imitative of the Exploits Valley Port Corporation. There were three outstanding presenters representing Cruise NL, and Indigenous Tourism in NL.

There is a great opportunity for business, and specifically the tourism sector in the Exploits Region to partner with this project as it moves forward.

In 2026, Cruise NL are projecting a total of 176 Ship Calls, with a total passenger volume of 82,224, and an additional 39,336 crew that will grace our waters and ports.

The Port of Botwood intends to be on that list in the coming years. Well done EVPC.

Good afternoon members,

We have recently become aware of an application before the Canada Industrial Relations Board that requests the removal of Marine Atlantic’s essential service status and that it would allow for a significant reduction in the service offering to and from the province.

We know how critical Marine Atlantic is to our economy. The business community, employees, suppliers, residents, and visitors all rely on this system.

Access to Newfoundland and Labrador, including the free movement of food, goods and people, is essential to the province’s economic prosperity, health, and safety. Any reduction in ferry service capacity could have detrimental consequences for residents, businesses, and supply chains.

As this situation continues to unfold, we will remain focused on ensuring broader public-interest impacts are clearly understood by government and decision-makers.

CALL TO ACTION
We are requesting information/stories you have on how a reduced ferry service would affect your members. Please send to me and Brandon Ellis (cc’d).

We commit to keeping you informed as additional information becomes available.

Sincerely,

We just finished up out first Business Start Up Open House at the Exploits Valley Mall. We were very pleased with the organizations that took part. It was a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to drop in and access information that can assist them in starting or expanding their businesses.

We look forward to building on the partnerships we created today and continuing to work for our members and the business community.

Thanks again to Wanda Pittman of Exploits Valley Mall for her leadership in this initiative and Lindsey Mercer of Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE) for her partnership.

Here are the organizations that took part. Feel free to reach out to any of them if you require information on starting or growing a business.
