Last Thursday, we hosted our very first Neighbourly Ventures Advancement Ceremony, a celebration of growth, perseverance, opportunity, and achievement. ✨

We recognized participants who completed the Discovery Program, along with two individuals who completed the Employment Program and secured full-time employment on their Path to Independence.

Together with residents, staff, donors, friends, and supporters, we shared an evening filled with meaningful stories, laughter, certificates, and special awards.

Most importantly, we celebrated what happens when people are given opportunity, purpose, and a place to belong. 💙🏅

We’re getting ready to host our first annual Advancement Ceremony, and honestly? We can’t wait for you to see this group be honoured.

Real advancement doesn’t just happen. It takes a massive amount of perseverance, late-night dedication, and the kind of initiative that sets these individuals apart. They’ve put in the work, stayed committed when things got tough, and earned every bit of this moment.

But here’s the thing: we know they didn't do it in a vacuum.

To the families, mentors, and friends who’ve been in their corner—you’re the "why" behind the "how." You’ve been the steady support system that allowed their grit to shine. This ceremony is a celebration of their hard work, but it’s also a thank-you to the village that cheered them on.

After waiting all winter to finish the landscaping around our new curbing, the ground finally cleared. Our team didn't just show up—they leaned in.

As part of our Safe to Try employment program, these neighbors participate voluntarily. They aren't just looking for a paycheck; they’re looking for the dignity of work.

​When you work for your own community at your own pace, the work doesn't take from you—it gives back.

​The transformation of the landscape is great, but the growth of the team is the real masterpiece.

A little dirt, a lot of heart, and a huge impact. Yesterday’s Earth Day cleanup was about more than just picking up litter—it was about working together to refresh our community footprint.

We spent time clearing trash and finished off with a BBQ and yummy treats.

It’s amazing the transformation that can happen when everyone pitches in.

We came back to the Fredericton Forest Hills transitional housing community and we tried something new!

This time, Sue from Finding Fundy Roots led a wood burning workshop, giving residents the chance to learn a new skill while hearing her story. She shared how a creative hobby grew into a business, and how Neighbourly Ventures supported her along the way.

What started as something relaxing and meditative has become a source of income and pride, with her work now being sold in the gift shop.

We’ll be back again soon to keep building on this: creating space to learn, trying new things, and seeing where things can go!

Mindy, Employment & Entrepreneurship Manager at 12 Neighbours, recently met with Tracey and residents of the Fredericton Forest Hills transitional housing to talk about opportunities through Neighbourly Ventures.

There was no shortage of great conversation — and even more exciting, so many shared hopes of working, creating, and staying busy.

With more stability, people are already imagining what’s possible.

We’ll be back again soon to keep that momentum going and support a few of these makers as they take their next big steps.

This is why we do what we do — helping turn ideas, energy, and hope into something real.
