Following the heavy rainfall Tuesday night, Public Works has been actively responding since early Wednesday morning, assessing conditions and addressing priority issues across the municipality. Impacts include localized flooding and road damage; however, no evacuations or access restrictions were required, and conditions have been stabilizing through ongoing monitoring and response efforts.
Public Works remains engaged in field operations as repairs and clean-up continue. Council extends appreciation to Public Works for their continued work and commitment to supporting residents during this time.
The RM did not declare a State of Local Emergency (SoLE) as existing municipal resources, emergency plans, and response authorities were sufficient to manage the situation. A SoLE is only required when extraordinary powers are needed to address an emergency situation and does not affect eligibility for Manitoba Disaster Financial Assistance. Information from the Emergency Management Organization can be found here https://www.gov.mb.ca/emo/funding/dfa/individual-claimants.html
The RM of Cartier appreciates the patience, cooperation, resilience of residents, and commitment to public safety during this flooding event. Further updates will be provided as additional information becomes available.
