💃🏽 JIGGING SEASON IS HERE! 🕺🏽
In Métis culture, jigging and other Métis dances are more than just fun social activities. Rather, learning these dances acts as both an act of resilience, and an expression of cultural pride. Join the Otipemisiwak Métis Government's Youth team, and champion Métis jigger and square dance, Joel Gladue, for weekly jigging lessons!
👌Beginners are always welcome and you don't have to make every session, but regular attendance = more steps mastered, more stamina unlocked, and more chances to show off those jigging skills!
📢PLEASE BRING water and comfortable shoes, socks, or moccasins!
When? Thursdays, Sept. 10 - Dec. 17, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM

About the Facilitator:
Joel Gladue known as the Metis prince is a professional champion Métis jigger and square dancer, cultural educator, performer, and motivational speaker. He offers dynamic performances, cultural workshops, and presentations that promote positivity, cultural pride, and healthy life choices through music, dance, and storytelling.
Joel provides live Métis jigging and square dance performances and showcasing for events, assemblies, and cultural celebrations. Alongside performances, he offers interactive workshops where participants learn traditional Métis dances, the history behind the music, and the cultural significance of the movements. His goal is to create an engaging, high-energy experience that builds confidence, respect, and appreciation for Métis culture.
In addition to dance and cultural education, Joel also delivers motivational speaking focused on making positive life choices. He speaks candidly about the realities of drugs, alcohol, addiction and the lifestyle that comes with it. His sharing includes real experiences and lessons in a way that connects with youth and encourages healthier, stronger paths forward.
