Election day is here Gander!

I want to thank my entire circle of supporters for all the help and encouragement over the past month. I've heard Gander residents concerns, and I am prepared to move Gander forward.

Please cast your vote and help shape Gander for our road ahead.

Today we pause to honour Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and reflect on the lasting impacts that are still felt across generations.

Truth must come before reconciliation. That means listening, learning, and confronting the realities of our past, not only today, but every day. Healing requires commitment from all of us, and it begins in our own communities.

As a councillor and as a neighbour, I believe our role is to move forward with respect, humility, and action. That means supporting spaces for Indigenous voices, continuing to build partnerships rooted in trust, and ensuring that future generations grow up in a town that truly values dignity, culture, and belonging.

Let’s not allow this to be a single day of remembrance. Let’s make it part of how we live, lead, and work together in Gander.

In 2021 when I was Chair of the Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce, I got the opportunity to connect with Clarice R Goodyear . I was emceeing the Joe and Clarice Goodyear business awards, and started off the night saying grace before the meal. It was a blessing that my grandmother Dorothy Handcock of Eastport would say before each meal. When I returned to my seat, next to Clarice, she told me how she had met my grandmother many years ago, and developed a friendship between the two families of Eastport and Glovertown (Clarice's hometown). We have been close ever since, and today I had the most amazing visit with her, and got her nod of approval for a second term on council.

Thank you Clarice, I will be forever grateful for our friendship, stories and words of wisdom.

Looking at the Town of Gander post asking Kids about things they'd like in Gander, and contemplating their completely awesome answers, I had some of the most brilliant minds I know come up with a plan for Gander based on the kids input. I like it!

I strongly urge vote by mail residents to take a look at this information. The Canada Post Strike may delay your ballot from reaching the Town hall on time.

Due to the current Canada Post strike, there may be significant delays in mail delivery. This means that vote-by-mail ballots placed in the mail are likely not to reach Town Hall before Election Day.

If you placed your ballot in the mail on or after September 22, 2025, or if you are concerned about whether your ballot has been received, please contact 709-651-2931 or [email protected].

If you requested a ballot by mail but did not receive it, please reach out to us.

We are committed to ensuring every eligible voter has the opportunity to participate, and we have measures in place to address these challenges. Your vote matters, and we are committed to ensuring the election proceeds smoothly.
