Family Interventionist and Behaviour Specialist
Child and Youth Practitioners are considered ‘change agents’ and this create change by promoting emotional, social and behavioural change and well being within the context of daily living. The interventions provided are practical in nature, consider the living environment and take place within the living environment - in the home, community and school. Child and Youth Practitioners effectively utilize de-escalation strategies to respond to any potential crisis in the moment. With the application of psycho-social mental health theory and the cognitive behaviour model to the life situations of children, youth and their families, Child and Youth Practitioners are instrumental in focusing on the developmental needs of children and families within the space and time of their everyday life.
Family First Child and Youth Services provides a mobile service to assist children, youth and caregivers struggling with their emotions and teaches families how to effectively manage these feelings. Serious disruptive and antisocial behaviour often starts in childhood. Early intervention and identification for young children with troublesome behaviour problems is critical to their future social/emotional development. Some concerns may include:
