I am deeply grateful to everyone who participated in the 2025 municipal elections. Voter turnout was among the highest in recent years, clearly demonstrating your strong commitment to Dorval’s democratic process. Your engagement is essential to keeping our city vibrant, inclusive, and one of the most dynamic communities on the West Island.
Thank you for supporting my candidacy for Mayor. I am honoured by your trust and look forward to working with all residents to build a stronger Dorval together.
I am extremely proud of our team and sincerely thank them for their dedication and positivity throughout the campaign. Jennifer Park and Lori Morrison brought forward an inspiring vision for Dorval, and I know they will continue to be active contributors to our community. I also want to recognize Bob Le Sage and Jean-François Leroux for their tireless work over the past 10 and 4 years, respectively. Their behind-the-scenes efforts and deep commitment to their districts will be greatly missed.
To Umberto Macri, Yolande Goufack, Dr. Chitra Chopra, and Isabelle Louis XVI—thank you for stepping forward and running for office. It takes courage to enter public life, where ideas and beliefs are often challenged. Your participation enriched our democratic process, and I deeply respect your contributions.
Congratulations to Pascal Brault, Linda Jun Lu, and Joe Bou-Faisal on their election victories in Districts 2, 3, and 6. A special thank-you to everyone who supported our campaign: our volunteers and our official agent, and our campaign manager, Kevin Tracey. Your dedication, fairness, and love for Dorval guided our campaign with integrity and professionalism. I also extend my congratulations to the re-elected council members: Paul Trudeau, Nicole Duchastel, and Christopher von Roretz. Thank you again for your past work and for placing your trust in me, Marc Doret, as your Mayor.
What’s next for Dorval?
As Mayor, my role will be to work collaboratively with all six councillors to build consensus and move Dorval forward. You, the residents, have made it clear: we must act with civility, work for the betterment of our community, and engage in open and honest dialogue. Partisan divisions have no place in our municipal council, and I will work diligently to ensure that unity and cooperation remain our guiding principles.
We must now prepare the 2026 budget, scheduled for the second week of December. We are already anticipating a significant increase in the Agglomeration payment: nearly $100 million, or approximately a 12% increase over last year. We also need to prepare the tri-annual investment plan, where I believe we must add $18 million of new money to fund climate change infrastructure improvements over the next four years. These investments will help prevent future damage from so-called “100-year” rainstorms, which now seem to occur annually. It will take courage for the council to fund these initiatives, but this is what residents are asking for alongside other important priorities.
Now, the real work begins. Let’s roll up our sleeves and continue building a Dorval we’re all proud to call home.
Marc Doret
Mayor of Dorval
