Conservatives have known for years that Canada needs to be investing in the Arctic for sovereignty and security.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper said it best, "Use it or lose it." Under his leadership we ordered Arctic Off Shore Patrol Ships, built a refuelling facility in Nanisivik, expanded the Canadian Rangers and established a new Canadian Forces Arctic Training Centre in Resolute Bay.

In the last election, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre campaigned on setting up military bases at Inuvik, Iqaluit and Churchill and building 2 additional heavy icebreakers for the navy.

Unfortunately, the last 11 years of Liberal mismanagement has left us more vulnerable in Canada's far north. We have to do more to protect it and defend against these adversaries.
