Reporting wildfires early is key to wildfire suppression and keeping the Village safe.

Residents can help by keeping their eyes open for smoke in our surrounding forests and report forest fires immediately to *5555 on your cellular phone or 911.

Cumberland Fire Rescue also asks residents to be cautious and vigilant this summer, both in the Village and the forest. For more information check out https://cumberland.ca/outdoor-burning/

Stage 2 water restrictions will be in effect June 4th 2026 for users of the Cumberland water system. Stage 2 restrictions will help conserve water for a safe drinking water supply through the summer and fall.

This is part of a regional response to the dry weather conditions our watershed has experienced this year and record low levels of rainfall and snowpack reported locally and at a provincial level.

During Stage 2 restrictions watering your lawn with a sprinkler is reduced to certain days and hours based on your civic address. If you use a timer to water your lawn, please be sure to adjust the time to within permitted watering times.

Throughout the day on May 14th, the Village will be using an asphalt surface treatment called spray patching along various roads in the Village to extend the life of those roads. Spray patching is one of a few pavement management strategies used to extend the life of existing roads and is a lower-cost treatment that helps seal the road and improve rideability.

Crews keep a watchful eye for potholes over the winter and use cold patch asphalt as a temporary fix until the hot asphalt plant starts operation in late spring. It is during the spring and summer that the asphalt contractors are brought in to make more permanent patching to the worst sections and arterial routes.

During spray patching operations please be patient and obey all traffic control personnel and signage.
