Did you know that June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day?
Established in 2006, this annual day raises awareness about elder abuse and neglect while promoting services and resources that support the safety, dignity, and well-being of older adults.
Unfortunately elder abuse continues to be a growing concern. That is why it is so important to learn how to recognize the signs of abuse, know where to report concerns, and understand ways to protect ourselves and others, including through advanced incapacity planning.
On June 15, people around the world wear purple to raise awareness and to recognize that abuse and neglect of older adults is both a public health and human rights issue. Communities host educational events to increase understanding of this important topic and to celebrate seniors as valued members of society who contribute a wealth of knowledge, skills, experience, and wisdom.

Together, we can help prevent elder abuse and neglect and create safer, more supportive communities for all older adults. 💜
