Listen... a lot of bits are hard(er)to come by up here 🙄... (and both of my horses love the same stinking fleming bit I got last year....😆)

So I present, fleming bit marked Fleming Mexico.

♠️double stitched in dark blue
♠️closes 3/4 down the inside of your leg, step in style(no zipper)

I just happened to have the right leathers in just the right colors 😊 on the same shelf at the same time! The brand on the left pocket was the brand that came on the top grain hide that makes up the yoke, cuff & trim. I love to use the brands any time I can!

🍁Oh Canada!!!! Unboxing orders, restocking the shop and testing some NEW dyes/colors (omg THE COLOURS!!!) I have a video but it'll take a bit to edit it down 🤣 ....
..NOW I'm testing some new 🎨 dyes from Zelikovitz Leathers 🇨🇦 water based, doesnt stain my hands😱, much better for breathing(low VOC), and hasn't clogged my airbursh yet 🤣... AAAAANNND a water based glue so I'm not so damn loopy in the winter when I cant have the door open 🤣🤦🏽‍♀️... 💓

Unrolling some BEAUTIFUL leather from OA Leather Supply 🇨🇦 WHICH IS EXCITING as I have literally *NEVER* had a bad piece of leather from them -not one! ... 🥰

It's always a good idea to learn your history.... its ALWAYS more than 'its pretty'...

You know how some people collect things like baseball cards? Well, I seem to collect palm conchos. For me, one with a cool design is hard to pass up. I love the tradition behind them, plus they’re a super handy anchor for romel reins when you’re riding in a bridle. By locking the concho in your fist, the tension and length of the reins remain perfectly fixed. This keeps the bit balanced and prevents the reins from shifting while riding.

There’s also some neat history behind them.

The original design was basically a flat, round concho (similar to an old 1800s clothing button) with keepers on both sides to securely attach the reins and romel. When a right-handed rider held the reins, the palm concho rested directly in the left hand. That locked the bridle length in place and left the rider’s right hand completely free to swing a rope, open a gate or whatever.

And when you’re a lefty… it’s all backwards. 😄

That’s part of what I like about old vaquero gear.
A lot of it came from function first. The style and tradition followed later.

They have been OVER a year in the making... & the time I have put into this set (still) put me well below the minimum wage🤦‍♀️🤣... but like Sheryl Crow said 🎶 'If it makes you happy it can't be that bad' 😄

I ran out of 'dots' for the right leg and am waiting on the shipment, but I couldnt wait any longer 🤣🤦‍♀️...

The list of details is VERY long .... I'll probably list them all with more photos tomorrow 🤣... for now I'm going to enjoy the feeling of finishing something that took me SO damn long!!!
