Habitat for Humanity Northumberland is a community-based, non-profit organization working for a world where everyone has a safe place to live. Since its start-up in 1998 HFHN has built, or renovated over 45 homes in Northumberland County. Sales from the ReStore, the HFHN retail store, meet most of our administrative expenses, ensuring that monetary donations go directly towards building houses f

or local low-income families. These Habitat homeowners pay a 0% interest mortgage geared and in turn, their mortgage payments help to build more homes in Northumberland County. Habitat for Humanity Northumberland has built houses across the county: Alderville, Brighton, Colborne, Cobourg, Port Hope and Warkworth. In 2015 we will be completing homes in Port Hope, Cobourg and Brighton - helping three more local families "COME HOME."

General information

The Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity Northumberland has announced that its future plan includes building at a rate of 2 or 3 homes per year. 100% of all money donated to your local Habitat goes to build homes. We are able to proudly make this statement because revenue from The ReStore covers all of the administration and operating costs for our Northumberland County Habitat affiliate. With the help of volunteers, our local Habitat for Humanity provides local families who are in need with safe, decent and affordable housing in Northumberland County. This is a practical expression of the Habitat goal to break the cycle of poverty by working with low income families in a way that carries big benefits generation to generation.
