We are locals of the Bow Valley.
We resist the high jacking of democracy and science by developers seeking profits over all else.
We stand for our wild neighbours who have no voice.
Our slogan and appeal is always the same: Stop TSMV1

In 2017 TSMV proposed a realignment of an existing wildlife corridor. The proposal was rejected in 2018 after 17 months of review. The proposed corridor did not meet the minimum width of 350m required by the terms of the development's 1992 approval.

The location of the realigned corridor was also found to be inconsistent with the approval's requirement that corridors correspond with known wildlife movement routes; the choice of location for the realigned corridor did correspond with maximization of profits for the developer and their investors however.

Two years later the same proposal for realignment was submitted to the Government of Alberta and this time it was approved after only a month of consideration. The legally binding rules of the development's approval and more importantly the wildlife science had not changed between 2018 and 2020, but the party ruling Alberta certainly had.

The culture of corruption which permeates Alberta politics has been very lucrative for many individual Canadians, companies and the federal government itself. One can see why the powers that be might conveniently choose to not recognize the problem let alone do something about it.

Locals have adopted the slogan Stop TSMV after being repeatedly left alone to resist the high jacking of local democracy and even science itself by developers and their friends in high places.

In 2021 Canmore rejected expansion of TSMV after a brief flirtation with local democracy. The rejection by Council, resulting from effective and sustained public pressure, of two development proposals lead to a 160 million dollar lawsuit against the Town by the developer and lawsuits filed against sitting council members as well.
The decision to reject a favoured project by a democratically elected council would be overturned soon after by an unelected tribunal of hand picked Conservative Party loyalists.
Democracy, like science is fine so long as it doesn't interfere with business as usual in Alberta.

In 2017 TSMV submitted an application to the government of Alberta requesting the relocation of a wildlife corridor from it's previously approved and scientifically informed location to a new, more convenient location for the developers bottom line. The application was finally rejected after 14 months of review.
The developer reapplied with the same proposal in 2020 and this time the relocation was approved. The wildlife science had not changed between 2017 and 2020, but the party ruling Alberta certainly had.

The document provides early evidence of a concerted effort to thwart the application of wildlife science to this project when ever it interferes with maximization of company profits..
