Everyone deserves the opportunity to explore what meaningful work can look like.

After exploring skills in a safe setting, short-term work trials with local employers give you real-world experience.

You can test out roles that match your interests and skills while learning how workplace routines and expectations feel. These trials help you build confidence and see what type of work is the right fit.

Today is International Women’s Day. 💚

It’s a chance to recognize the strength, leadership, and resilience of women in our communities.

Across Canada, women are pursuing education, building new skills, and stepping into careers that support their families and strengthen local economies. Their determination helps shape more inclusive workplaces and stronger communities.

It’s also a reminder that access to opportunity matters. When women have the support, resources, and pathways to succeed, the impact reaches far beyond the individual.

Today we celebrate the women creating new possibilities for themselves and others.

Today is Pink Shirt Day.

It began with a simple act of standing beside someone who was being bullied. That small decision grew into a movement that reminds us how much our everyday actions matter.

Bullying can quietly erode confidence and belonging. And those are the very things people need in order to grow, take risks, and move forward.

Empowering people and communities means creating spaces where individuals feel safe, supported, and valued. It means noticing when someone might need encouragement. It means speaking up. It means choosing kindness in the small, everyday moments.

Pink Shirt Day brings visibility and energy to this conversation.

What matters just as much is how we carry that intention into our daily work and into our communities, in how we listen, how we respond, and how we show up for one another.

Kindness is something we practice together.

What a wonderful evening last night as we opened the doors of our new Calgary office for our holiday open house. It was such a pleasure to welcome the Calgary community, share some holiday cheer, and connect with so many inspiring people.

We had a great time showcasing our programs and services in action and giving guests the opportunity to explore our new office. Guests visited our work simulation stations and even tried out our VR headsets, getting a hands-on look at the innovative ways our Work It Forward program supports people with disabilities. Seeing the excitement and curiosity from everyone reminded us why this work matters and how meaningful it is to make a positive impact in the Calgary community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the evening so special. We’re so excited to be here in Calgary and look forward to continuing to connect, build relationships, and support our community.

Happy holidays from all of us at AKG Canada!

At AKG Canada, we work with people every day as they discover their strengths, build their skills, and step into new opportunities.

Some are exploring jobs for the first time in a while. Others are learning new ways to navigate the workplace or trying something completely different. Every day, we see the difference that practical support, guidance, and encouragement can make as people gain confidence and independence, empowering them to shape their futures.
