Today is World Menstrual Hygiene Day 💗🩸

A day that reminds us periods are not just a health issue; they’re an equity issue.

Across Australia and around the world, too many people still face barriers to accessing period products, education and support, impacting school, work, sport and everyday life.

At Share the Dignity, we’re proud to stand alongside a global movement working to break stigma, drive change and ensure dignity is never out of reach.

Because menstrual equity matters. Today and every day.

Let’s talk about something that should never be an obstacle: periods.

Menstrual equity means making sure everyone can manage their period with dignity with access to affordable products, safe spaces, the right information, and a world free of stigma.

But in Canada, too many people still face period poverty, having to choose between essentials like food, housing, or menstrual products.

That’s why initiatives like the Government of Canada’s Menstrual Equity Fund pilot, being delivered by Food Banks Canada, is so important. The pilot’s goals include working to:
✨ provide free menstrual products to low-income communities across Canada
✨ support community distribution networks
✨ raise awareness and break the stigma through education

This work matters ✨. When people can manage their periods safely and with dignity, they can fully participate in school, work, and everyday life.

It’s Menstrual Health Day, a good time to remember you can make a difference to a woman in need donate period products to your local food bank, community pantry, women’s emergency shelter.

Great to see Shoppers Drug Mart supporting FearIsNotLove in Calgary, with donation opportunities for period products. But sadly the bin was empty, so we kicked started it.
