Every Vote Counts Calgary

Every Vote Counts Calgary On October 16, 2017, Calgary votes for a mayor, city council and school board trustees. Young people aged 18-35 have historically been the least likely to vote.

That means the issues you care most about are the least likely to be heard and addressed by the people elected to make those decisions on your behalf. Let's change that. This fall, make Every Vote Count. Every Vote Counts Calgary is a volunteer-led initiative under the direction of the Ethno-Cultural Council of Calgary (ecccalgary.com) and the Coalition for Equal Access to Education (elsaction.com).

Incredible turnout in the 2017 municipal election. 58% of voters made their way to polling stations across the city. Lines were long and sometimes frustrating with reports of stations running out of ballots! But is that not a good problem to have? It's amazing to see so many Calgarians take part in the election, join the conversation and make their vote count!

Our Story

In 2019, Albertans will have the opportunity to make their voices heard in two general elections. In the spring, we’ll see our PROVINCIAL leaders campaigning for your vote. That’s followed by a FEDERAL election in the fall. Young people aged 18-30 have historically been the least likely to vote. That means the issues you care most about are the least likely to be heard and addressed by the people elected to make those decisions on your behalf. Let's change that. In 2019, make Every Vote Count. Every Vote Counts Calgary is a volunteer-led initiative under the direction of Action Dignity.
