03/27/2026

Youth homelessness is a pressing issue in Canada, with thousands of young people struggling to find stable and secure housing. In Halton Region, the Children’s Aid Foundation of Halton supports the Bridging the Gap program, which provides critical support to youth ages 16–24 who are experiencing or at risk of becoming unhoused.

The Bridging the Gap program is designed to address the root causes of youth becoming unhoused, including poverty, family conflict, and mental health issues. By providing a safe and supportive environment, the program helps youth to:

Complete their education and gain employment skills
Access healthcare and counseling services
Develop life skills and independence
Rebuild relationships with family and community

Concerned about the housing crisis in your community?

Join us at the Halton Hills Public Library in Georgetown this Saturday, March 28 for an afternoon of story sharing and connection.

The CDH Lived Experience Initiative connects with voices of lived experience with homelessness to inform policy and action that we might take as a community as we work to realize the right to housing for all. Registration to this event is free, and we hope to see you there!

🌕 Join us on February 28, 2026, as we walk in support of youth served by the Bridging the Gap team! 🌙

Bridging the Gap is a program for Halton based youth aged 16-24 who are unhoused or are at risk of becoming so. Program participants gain the support they need to become independent; aiming to find secure living arrangements and complete their education or pursue employment.

The Bridging the Gap team is dynamic and resourceful, but the number of youths that need support continues to grow. An average of 500 participants are helped annually, so the support of the community around us is crucial and has an immense impact on the lives of young people in need.

Those in the program have experienced hardships, loss, and are isolated due to circumstances beyond their control; our goal is to raise funds to support them with the tools they require to secure long-term and stable housing, while instilling confidence and surrounding them with nurturing care and inspiration.

Please help us make a crucial difference in the lives of these young people. https://loom.ly/Z6Rfluo
