Pinecone Forest A nature-friendly retreat in the heart of the Madawaska Valley for nature viewing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, x-country skiing, camping and cottage rental.

Located on Conroys Marsh and the York River near Bancroft, Ontario. The Pinecone Forest Nature Sancturary is a nature-friendly retreat where individuals, families and groups can experience nature in a semi-wilderness setting. Located on Conroys Marsh in the beautiful Madawaska Valley, the scenery and wildlife are spectacular year round. Come for a quiet, relaxing get-a-way where you plan your own

itinerary, or join us for a guided tour or interpretive walk. For those wishing a quiet holiday, you can rent our very private, four-bedroom cottage on the Upper Conroy Rapids. (not available in winter)

For those wishing to rough it just a little, you can rent our comfortable one-room chalet with screened porch. This cabin has a kitchenette for vegetarians, air-tight fireplace, propane stove and lights, and outdoor toilet facilities. For the camping enthusiast, we offer you a quiet camping location at the top of the Upper Conroy Rapids on the York River. Drinking water from a dug well and firewood supplied. For organized educational and nature groups wishing to explore the forest and Conroys Marsh, mix it up with camping and indoor accommodation. The chalet site on Pinecone Bay comes complete with group firepit with benches and up to 6 secluded tentsites. Your host, Gus Zylstra, will be happy to discuss your nature-friendly retreat, and to design a package best suited to your specific interests and travel plans. We look forward to your visit with us.

Our ski trails are open for the season. Nice fresh powder snow over the past week has made the trail conditions optimum. All our trails are back-country trails with a packed base.
