🍞 EVERY LOAF HELPS

Over the years, Saskatchewan people have helped support Donna’s Legacy Project and the preservation of the Prayer Home.

Their support helped fund a new roof, new back stairs, and the painting and preservation of this special building.

Now we are asking for that support once again.

This year’s bread fundraiser will help fund new flooring in the Prayer Home, continuing the work Donna cared so deeply about.

Over time I realized I wasn’t just preserving the site — I was living inside the story myself.

A book
My book

It follows both my own journey and the story connected to my ancestor who arrived in Canada alone as a child in 1899. “ Iakov “

What began as a search to better understand the past became something much deeper.

A story about what stays with us.

What shapes us.

And what we choose to carry forward.

This summer, on select Saturdays, I’ll be sharing short readings from What Remains Here at the Doukhobor Dugout House National Historic Site of Canada.

Not as a formal event—

but as a chance to share part of the journey that led me to write it.

Copies of What Remains Here is available on Amazon, and at the Doukhobor Dugout House this summer, and soon through select bookstores.

Something new for the 2026 season. 🌿🌸🌾

If you’ve visited the Doukhobor Dugout House, you’ve likely noticed that colour is part of the experience. From the different interpretive areas across the site to the changing landscape throughout the season, every part of the land has its own character.

With that in mind, we decided to introduce a new collection of Doukhobor Dugout House T-shirts in a variety of soft pastel colours inspired by the colours found throughout the site.

You’ll see our staff wearing them this season, and visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase their own.

A small reminder of the land, the history, and the experience that make this place unique.

Available this summer at the Doukhobor Dugout House National Historic Site of Canada.

Respecting Our Overnight Guests’ Privacy

Throughout the summer, the Doukhobor Dugout House welcomes overnight guests who have reserved a Heritage Overnight experience and exclusive access to the site during their stay.

We kindly remind visitors that when the site is closed to the public, the grounds are not open for self-guided visits. Overnight guests may be staying on the property and deserve the privacy, safety, and peaceful experience they have booked.

Day tourism is offered on select Saturdays throughout July and August, and we look forward to welcoming visitors on those public visiting days.

Outside of scheduled public hours, we ask that visitors respect posted closures, gates, and private access areas. Entering the property when it is closed can create privacy and safety concerns for both overnight guests and visitors.

Thank you for helping us provide a respectful, safe, and enjoyable experience for everyone who visits the Doukhobor Dugout House National Historic Site of Canada.
