Remember that combustible siding does not stand up to heat well. Please make sure you always leave at least 3’ clearance between flammable or combutustible material!

The BVFD Salmon Derby starts in 10 days!!!
Do you have your ticket, yet? 😮
Available in Bamfield at Breakers Marine, Bamfield Mercantile and Marine, Harbourside Lodge, Upnit Lodge, and McKay Bay Lodge.
Weigh-in station at Upnit Lodge (formerly Kingfisher) 9am-9pm July 30, 31, and 9am-12pm August 1st. Prize ceremony at the BVFD hall at 1pm - burgers, dogs, etc. !!
At least your ticket must be present to claim "hidden weight" prizes.

Have weekend plans? The BVFD is hosting our annual Salmon Derby this long weekend - July 31 to Aug 2, 2021! Weigh-in at the Kingfisher dock starts at 9am Saturday, July 31st. Outdoor prize presentation will start at 1pm on Monday, August 2nd, at the fire hall.

Please practice COVID-19 procedures - recommended you mask up if you've had one or less vaccine shots, sanitize, and stay home if you feel any symptoms. You may give your derby ticket to someone who is attending if you cannot be there - tickets must be present to claim prizes!

Effective at noon (Pacific time) on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, campfires, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires will be prohibited throughout the province of British Columbia.

The following activities are also prohibited: the use of sky lanterns, fireworks, burn barrels or burn cages, binary exploding targets, tiki and similar kinds of torches, chimineas, air curtain burners, and outdoor stoves or other portable campfire apparatus without a Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or Underwriter Laboratories of Canada (ULC) rating.

Anyone found in contravention of an open burning prohibition may be issued a violation ticket for $1,150, receive a penalty of up to $10,000 or be fined up to $100,000 and/or sentenced to one year in jail. If the contravention causes or contributes to a wildfire, the person responsible may be ordered to pay all firefighting and associated costs.

The Bamfield Volunteer Fire Department/First Responder teams have calendars for sale, in an effort to raise some money after a year where other fundraisers were not possible! Calendars are $20, and can be found at the Market, Breakers Marine, the Mercantile and Marine, and Post Office. They can be shipped if you're willing to pay for shipping, or if you're currently not in Bamfield but will be in the new year, you can pay in advance and have a calendar set aside with your name on it!

The Bamfield Volunteer Fire department is sad to report that we will not be hosting our intertidal golf tournament, nor salmon derby this year over concerns related to COVID-19. To help protect our community, we will put a pause on these events and come back to them next year.
