𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀

This community-led exhibit shares the stories, memories, humour, work, and experience of grease making in Dzawadi.

From the very first Grease Makers Gathering, we knew this exhibit would be shaped by community. The stories shared around the table alone were enough to fill a museum — stories of hard work, family ties, laughter, teachings, and the unique sense of togetherness carried through grease camp life.

Through photographs, stories, cultural belongings, and teachings shared across generations, the exhibit honours the people and practices connected to T̕łina and the ongoing work of carrying this knowledge forward.

Everyone is welcome.

Community Water Conservation Notice
The Village of Alert Bay and ‘Na̱mg̱is First Nation are encouraging residents and businesses connected to local water systems to help reduce non-essential water use as drought conditions continue to affect Vancouver Island and communities across British Columbia.
As an island community supplied by a groundwater aquifer, our local water supply depends heavily on rainfall and natural recharge. Conserving water now helps protect our shared water source throughout the summer months and may reduce the need for stronger restrictions later in the season.
Residents are encouraged to follow voluntary outdoor watering recommendations and be mindful of everyday water use.
✔️ Water during recommended hours
✔️ Avoid unnecessary outdoor water use
✔️ Delay pressure washing where possible
✔️ Turn off taps and hoses when not in use
✔️ Water gardens efficiently and repair leaks

Dear Families:

Please help us spread the word about our upcoming Ready, Set, Learn event happening tomorrow, May 20, at 1:00 p.m. at our school.

This event is for children ages 3–5 and their caregivers and is a great opportunity for young children to explore fun, interactive learning activities while getting ready for school. There will also be giveaways for families who attend.

If you know any families with preschool-aged children, we would appreciate you sharing this information with them.

We look forward to welcoming new families to our school community!
