From all of us at Imagination Library Airdrie, we hope you’re enjoying a wonderful day filled with laughter, connection, and special moments with the people who matter most.

Family Day is celebrated in several Canadian provinces, including here in Airdrie and across Alberta. It was first introduced in 1990 to give families dedicated time to be together and to recognize the importance of strong family bonds in building healthy communities. The idea was simple but powerful: in the middle of a long winter, take a day to slow down, reconnect, and focus on what truly matters — each other.

At Imagination Library, we see every day how meaningful family time can be — especially when it’s spent reading together. Sharing a book builds imagination, strengthens literacy, and creates lasting memories between parents, grandparents, caregivers, and children.

Whether you’re out enjoying winter activities, visiting loved ones, or cuddled up with a great book, we wish your family warmth, joy, and togetherness today.

What is the Imagination Library?

It’s about giving every child in Airdrie a stronger start, supporting early learning at home, and investing in our community’s future.

We hope to bring 𝗗𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗼𝗻’𝘀 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 to Airdrie — a free program that will mail a 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗴𝗲-𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 to children from birth to age five.

Right now, we’re working to secure the 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵. Once we reach our goal, local children will begin receiving their very first books in the mail — completely free to families.

We’re still looking for 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 who believe every child deserves the chance to grow up surrounded by books.

Nearly a 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹, and 𝟮𝟳% 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 start Grade 1 without the early skills needed to learn to read. Together, we can change that.
