𝐉𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐄𝐍𝐆 π‚π‘π„π€π“πˆπ•π„π’ π–πŽπ‘πŠπ’π‡πŽπ

NACB in collaboration with the Ministry of Sport and Arts, COSBOTS, the Jwaneng Town Council, recently participated in a creatives workshop in Jwaneng held under the theme, "Building a Professional Creative Industry."

The workshop brought together artists and industry stakeholders to strengthen the capacity of Botswana's creative sector through knowledge sharing and meaningful engagement. Participants gained valuable insights into copyright, intellectual property, royalty collection, artist permits, talent development, business development and opportunities that promote professionalism and sustainable careers in the creative industry.

Representing NACB, Mrs. Marang Selolwane shared information on the Council's programmes and initiatives designed to support artists and creative practitioners. The Council also registered artists onto the National Artists Registry Database, ensuring they are positioned to access future opportunities within the sector.

Through strategic partnerships and continued engagement with creatives across the country, NACB remains committed to fostering a sustainable creative industry that contributes to Botswana's socio-economic development.

The NACB honoured an invitation to attend an exclusive album listening session hosted by Botswana artist Ruben β€œSpexx” Maposa. The session was held at Ko Steneng in Tlokweng on 30 July 2026 and brought together prominent figures who have helped shape Botswana’s music industry. Attendees included the legendary David β€œDaddy Ski” Molosi, K-BOSS, Goitsemodimo Javas Binang of the Kwaito Group Eskimos, and 3rd Mind duo, Kagiso β€œPrez Beats” Metshe and Modise β€œDee” Moletsane.

The debut album is a blend of kwaito fused with house music elements. β€œI predominantly produced this debut album. Additional production was done by Presley " Prez Beats" Metshe, a legendary producer with many production credits to his name, and Francois "F.A.T." Titus, a powerhouse younger generation producer,” Molosi said.

The NACB’s attendance reaffirms its commitment to advancing resource mobilisation efforts that secure funding and strategic partnerships for the creative sector, create employment opportunities, and promote the industry’s long-term sustainability.

Are you an artist, producer, programmer, festival, company, professional network or cultural institution based in Sub-Saharan Africa or Europe?
These opportunities are for you:
1. Professional Mobility: to support international organizations and events hosting performing arts and music professional delegations;
2. Circulation of Performing Arts and Music : to support tours or the programming of African creations within major international events;

Over the weekend, NACB attended the BOMU Annual General Assembly in Palapye. Represented by Board Chairperson, Mr. Prince Monna and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Gaokgakala Daniel Lemmenyane, joining creatives and industry stakeholders in recognising the importance of good governance and a united creative sector.

We extend our congratulations to Mrs. Gloria Dzwikiti on her historic election as the first female President of BOMU.

NACB remains committed to collaborate with industry associations and stakeholders. Gatherings such as the BOMU Annual General Assembly play a vital role in strengthening governance, fostering dialogue and advancing the sustainable growth of Botswana's arts and creative industries.
