The Divisional Forest Office, Dagana proudly commemorated World Ranger's Day 2026 at the Division under the global theme:
"Rangers: Guardians of a Changing Planet"
The occasion celebrated the dedication, courage, and invaluable contributions of forest rangers who work tirelessly to protect Bhutan's forests, wildlife, and biodiversity. The celebration was marked by a series of events, including Hoisting of National Flag, Gosa Pinning Ceremony, Khadar Ceremony, cake cutting, and a fellowship dinner, reflecting the spirit of service, unity, and professionalism.
Coinciding with the celebration, the Division also honoured the well-deserved promotions of three dedicated officials:

The Royal Government of Bhutan officially launched the validation and verification (V&V) process for its REDD+ Program under the Architecture for REDD+ Transactions (ART) TREES Standard on 9 June 2026. The kick-off meeting was attended by Dasho Karma Tshering, Honโ€™ble Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, representatives from the Department of Forests and Park Services and Legal Services Division, AENOR (the VV Body), and the ART Secretariat.

The meeting marks the start of an independent assessment of Bhutanโ€™s TREES submission covering the 2015โ€“2019 reference period and the 2020โ€“2024 crediting period. According to Bhutanโ€™s TREES Monitoring Report, the country generated an estimated 1.76 million credits which will be issued by ART upon completion of validation and verification for the crediting period 2020โ€“2024, with approximately one million units expected to be eligible for the CORSIA market.

Guided by the philosophy of Gross National Happiness and supported by strong constitutional and policy commitments, Bhutan has maintained approximately 70% forest cover and more than 52% of its land under protected area networks and biological corridors, enabling the country to remain one of the few carbon-negative nations in the world.

The validation and verification process is an important milestone in Bhutanโ€™s REDD+ journey, providing independent assurance of the countryโ€™s emissions reductions and recognizing decades of efforts in forest conservation, biodiversity protection, climate action, and sustainable forest management.

Open Auction Re-Notification of Mixed Hardwood Timber Lajab, Tsangkha, Khebisa and Drujegang Gewogs

The Divisional Forest Office, Dagana is pleased to notify all the interested parties to take part in an open auction for extraction of mixed hardwood timber from ad-hoc sites under Drujeygang Forest Range. The auction is scheduled on June 15, 2026, at 10:30 A.M. at the Division Head Office, Dagapela. The timber will be auctioned on an โ€œas is where isโ€ basis. Interested third parties or individuals are encouraged to inspect the timber at the designated sites during office hours, a day prior to the auction.

To participate in the auction, individuals or parties must submit a security deposit of Nu. 5,000 (Five thousand only) payable to the Chief Forestry Officer, Dagana Divisional Forest Office before the auction in the form of Demand Draft or Cash Warrant. The security deposit of unsuccessful bidders will be returned on the same day after the auction, while the deposit of the successful bidder will be returned upon full payment and lifting of the timber.
