The Value of Language II cancelled / afgelast

The Value of Language II postponed
The second edition of The Value of Language, which was to be held on the KU Leuven campus in Brussels on 26 November 2015, has been cancelled and will be rescheduled to take place in March 2016. The exact date will be confirmed in the next couple of days. All event tickets remain valid for the rescheduled event.
Brussels has been under the highest terror alert level for three days now, with people warned to avoid places where large groups gather (including events, markets, concerts, airports and train stations) and authorities warning of a "serious and imminent threat of several individuals with weapons and explosives to launch acts in several places at one".
Today, many banks, government administration buildings and all schools are closed, including the university campus where the language conference and language market of The Value of Language are to be hold on Thursday. The campus has been closed for three days now and will remain closed until further notice.
Given the current extremely uncertain situation, it's become practically impossible to continue normal preparations for the event. We have therefore no choice but to cancel the entire event. We will reschedule the event for March 2016 and confirm the exact date in the next couple of days. All event tickets remain valid for the rescheduled event.

The Value of Language II uitgesteld
De tweede editie van The Value of Language, gepland voor donderdag 26 november 2015 op de Brusselse Letterencampus van de KU Leuven, is afgelast en wordt uitgesteld tot maart 2016. De nieuwe datum zal eerstdaags worden bevestigd. Alle tickets blijven geldig.
Zoals iedereen weet, geldt in Brussel vandaag voor de derde dag op rij het hoogste dreigingsniveau i.v.m. een mogelijke of waarschijnlijke terroristische daad. De overheid raadt aan niet op drukke plaatsen te komen (concerten, markten, luchthaven, stations, enz.) en spreekt van een "ernstige en zeer nabije dreiging" door verschillende personen met wapens en explosieven die op verschillende plaatsen tegelijk in actie zouden kunnen komen.
Vandaag zijn veel ondernemingen, winkels en overheidsgebouwen gesloten. Alle scholen zijn gesloten, met inbegrip van de universiteitscampus waar de taalconferentie en de taalmarkt van The Value of Language plaatsvinden. De campus is nu sinds drie dagen gesloten en zal gesloten blijven tot nader bericht.
In zulke onzekere omstandigheden, en aangezien de dreiging pas maandagavond opnieuw geëvalueerd zal worden, is het voor de organisatoren zo goed als onmogelijk geworden om het evenement op een normale manier voor te bereiden.
Wij zien dan ook geen andere mogelijkheid dan het evenement af te gelasten en te verplaatsen naar het voorjaar van 2016. Een precieze datum zal zo spoedig mogelijk bekend worden gemaakt. Alle tickets blijven onverminderd geldig.

The Value of Language II reporté
La seconde édition de The Value of Language, planifiée pour ce jeudi 26 novembre 2015 sur le campus Brussel de la KU Leuven, est annulée et reportée au mois de mars 2016. La nouvelle date sera annoncée dès que possible. Tous les tickets restent valables.
Comme vous le savez tous, le niveau d’alerte à Bruxelles demeure à son maximum pour le 3ème jour consécutif dû à la possibilité d’une, ou probable, attaque terroriste. Les autorités conseillent aux personnes de ne pas se rendre dans des endroits à forte densité (concerts, marchés, aéroports, gares, …) et parlent d’une « menace sérieuse et imminente » avec plusieurs individus qui lanceraient des offensives, avec armes et explosifs, à plusieurs endroits en même temps.
Aujourd’hui, beaucoup d’entreprises, de magasins et de bâtiments publics sont fermés. Toutes les écoles, dont le campus universitaire où la conférence et le marché de la langue de The Value of Language devaient avoir lieu, sont fermées. Le campus est fermé depuis maintenant 3 jours et le restera jusqu’à nouvel ordre.
Dans de pareilles circonstances et vu qu’une nouvelle évaluation des menaces ne sera faite que dans la soirée de lundi, il est devenu quasi impossible pour les organisateurs de préparer l’évènement de manière normale.
Nous ne voyons donc pas d’autres alternatives que d’annuler l’évènement et de le reporter à l’année prochaine au mois de mars 2016. Une date précise vous sera communiquée dès que possible. Tous les tickets resteront valables, bien entendu.
