The organisers meet the Commission, the initiative is discussed at the European Parliament, and the Commission presents its official reply within 6 months.

The European Commission registered a new European citizens’ initiative – the first of 2026 and the 125th overall.

Organisers now have six months to open signature collection. In the meantime, you can already sign other initiatives or start your own.

With the European citizens’ initiative, you can bring your ideas to the EU’s policy agenda – and today, a group of citizens did exactly that.

The initiative ‘Ban on conversion practices in the EU’ has been submitted to the Commission for examination after collecting over 1.12 million signatures.

What happens next?
✅Within 1 month, the Commission will meet with the organisers to discuss the initiative in detail
✅Within 3 months, the European Parliament will organise a public hearing
✅Within 6 months, the Commission will give an official response
