Bangladesh Post Office The government is turning 8,500
post offices into e-centres aimed at reaching
information and communication technology

A project has been formulated by Bangladesh
Post Office for establishing Post e-center at
each of the 8500 rural post offices of the
country. This project aims at bridging digital
divide between the rural and urban people of
the country by enabling them to have access
to modern ICT based technologies. This project
can be considered as an important milestone in
achieving the ‘Vision-2021’ of the pr

esent
government. The project is at the final stage of
approval. In several national and international
addressing, the Honorable Prime Minister has
reiterated the intention of the government to
the effect that “each of 8500 rural post offices
of the country will be converted into Post E-
Center”. This has rendered this project as a
national program.
