2026
For the past two decades, while working as a human rights activist in Bangladesh, I have personally witnessed a painful reality: women’s lives are still not truly valued in our society. This is an uncomfortable truth. Whether it is a little girl, an adolescent, a young woman, or an adult woman — women in Bangladesh are still often not treated as equal human beings. This is the harsh reality.
From family life to workplaces, women continue to face disrespect and discrimination. Sadly, this is true in the vast majority of cases. Perhaps only a very small percentage receive the respect and appreciation they deserve. In a nation of nearly 200 million people, where almost half the population is female, this means a huge number of women remain undervalued and unheard.
Over the past several years, incidents of child r**e and sexual violence have increased alarmingly. One painful but undeniable reason behind this is that women’s lives are still not viewed with the dignity and respect they deserve.
At times, it feels impossible to reduce the culture of sexual violence that has spread through society. Beyond grief, frustration, and online protests, many of us feel powerless.
May Allah either guide this uncivilized society or hold it accountable with the justice it deserves.
Allah, and Allah alone, is the ultimate judge and dispenser of justice.
Hypocrites, please stop pretending. 🙏
To every violated mother, sister, and daughter — please forgive us. We have failed you. We are helpless.
