Barrister Mutasim Billah Faruqui joined Rotary in 2002 as a Charter Member of a new club-RC Dhaka Fort and served the Club in different positions like Director,Secretary, Vice President, President and Chairman of 6th, 8th , 9th ,10th 12th 13th and15th Installation ceremony of the Club. During his tenure as President he organized several Medical Camps where thousands of poor patients took free trea
tment and medicines as well. He arranged about 150 sanitary latrines for the poor families in Jamalpur and organized distribution of clothes and foods among flood affected poor people and tree plantation programs. He had inducted 17 new members to RC Dhaka Fort in his year of presidency. He Attended RI Conventions in 2006 and 2010 at Copenhagen, Denmark and Montreal, Canada. He served Rotary District 3280 as Assistant Governor for 2012-13. He served RI district 3281 as Deputy Governor and Lieutenant Governor for 2014-15 & 2015-16 respectively. Presently he is serving RI District 3281 as District Rotaract Committee Chair. He is the GSR of Rotary Club of Ahsan Manzil

EDUCATION
Mr Faruqui graduated with honours in English from Chittagong University and did his Masters in Business Administration from Northern University Bangladesh. He also achieved LLB (Hons) from University of Northumbria, United Kingdom and completed Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) under Northumbria University. He had obtained Barrister at Law from the Honorable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, London
EMPLOYMENT
He joined Bangladesh Civil Service Taxation cadre as Assistant Commissioner of Taxes in 1994 and served as Deputy Commissioner of Taxes, Deputy Director General, Directorate of Inspection; Deputy Commissioner of Taxes, Large Taxpayer’s Unit and Joint Commissioner of Taxes. Presently he is working as Additional Commissioner of Taxes in Taxes Zone 4, Dhaka. Before joining civil service he had served as Sub Editor in Daily New Nation and also worked in a Multinational Company as Marketing Executive. ORGANIZATIONAL INVOLVEMENT
MB Faruqui is elected Treasurer and was EC Member & Joint Secretary of Officers Club-Dhaka. He served as General Secretary (In-charge) of the Club in 2008. He also served as General Secretary, Chittagong University Ex-Students Club, Dhaka, Founder President, 13Th B C S Forum and as Publication Secretary, BCS Taxation Association. He is serving President of NUB Alumni Association, Dhaka , Treasurer of Jamalpur District Samity Dhaka, Director (Finance) of Greater Mymensing Coordination Council,Dhaka. and President of Udayachal Samabaya Samity, implementing a successful housing project for BCS cadre Officers belonging 13 BCS batch.
